Yesterday temps was near 70 took the BMW to the post office and mailed a package.Nice day out so I stopped at the Oxford Fire Dept to get permission to search in their back lot.At this site it used to be the location of the old high school that burned down in 1977 the building was built in the late 1800s.There was an old baseball field behind the school where it was said Ty Cobb played a game or two.Anyway parked the motorcycle went inside to the dispatch office and asked the Fire Chief for permission to hunt also explained I worked at the Museum in Oxford and was interested in searching the back field. The fireman showed me where the lot line ran in the open field and pointed out where the old rail road use to run through the area.Another bit of information he pointed at a modern manufacturing building that had a tall block building in the middle, which he said the block part is the old train station.I gained permission and also a lot of good information.Went home and got stranded on the farm also just order a new stove and had to stay put to help install.Today got out for a couple of hours the first thing I noticed lots of small rocks in the ground and had to adjust the sensitivity down a little.More Oxford history, it is said that all dirt roads this side of the Mississippi has some Oxford gravel on them.Yelp there was plenty of gravel here also.To days finds a 1925 Buffalo nickle very nice clean date and a 1920 wheat both down about 8 inches.Nothing great on finds but was nice to get out.HH Ron

Hi Ron,

Nothing great on finds? I feel you found two very nice coins. If you are finding these type of coins "right off the bat" I am sure there will be many more nice coins to follow. Best of luck and I look forward to your future posts. - Jim
