It is used, got it from Max. we thought there was something wrong with it but I guess they call it XS for a reason it will pick up interference from about 20-25 feet-thats when it goes nuts from Max's gt and anywhere near his house?? I have a 12 8 and coinsearch coil each has their own shaft already, a couple of hipmount bags and belts and ovecourse a waterproof box, I have been planning on getting this for awhile so I have been putting together the shafts and doing little repairs and ready to install the on / off switch on the outside of the waterproof box ( done as soon as it got home ) me and Max and ? are planning a road trip maybe hit a couple of beaches today and maybe Max can get some pictures for me. I will let you know how well it works out.

What happens if Max switches frequencies on the GT. Do you still pick it up. I have been around a few people with Sov's and Excals and some I can get rid of the interference on the GT by switching frequencies. This usually gets rid of the noise from my detector that the other person is hearing too.

I was in between a gt and an excal and the XS was out of control, I had to be 25 feet from each me in the middle - unbeleivable interference my EXCAL will let me get atleast 10 feet closer I am guessing this is normal ? I will just have to keep my distance but I really like the machine

does it get any better if Max switches his frequency ?? one improvement they made on the later machines is the ability to switch , I have an Xs and it does seem more prone to electrical type interference , one place I cant hunt with the xs , I run in there with the elite and I can hunt it in band one, but not band 2 ......you may just need to do as you say and keep a safe distance,I hunt with a fellow and his machine becomes damn near inoperable if we are to close, but I hear nothing off his machine, I think the reason they went to a 2 band system is the predesposition to electrical interference........top notch machine though ..you will figure out the magic zone and then just stay that far away ...... good luck

I was thinking that Max could switch frequencies since the GT has that capability and that might take away the interference that you were getting from him. Looks like you guys had a great trip!

We would have to switch freq before we head out, both are in waterproof boxes and Max's is hard to get to. I will be able to take a nice pic after x-mass of my box

Most metal detectors have little or no RF /electrical sheilding. Metal detectors send out a signal and if two of the same type of detectors are near each other that signal will cause interference.
