but I couldn't find a stinkin' Roosey to complete it.
Gotta' keep this post short because I'm exausted and have to get up at 5:30 for work...but wanted to share anyway.
I started the hunt using the pro coil but knew I would need the added sniping prowess of a smaller coil later on.
The seated was absolutely engulfed by iron as you can see...and gave me the slightest chirp of a warble through a dead null from about 10" down. I'm sure glad I decided to dig.

The barber was also surrounded by junk at a depth of only 4". A zillion other hunters probably walked over that critter many times...including ME. This time though I decided to dig because the 6" Excelerator coil gave me a nice warble between the crap sound.

A short time later I got another jumbled up mess of a sound but I heard a little warble trying to speak to me...so I gave it a shot. Between a pencil top and underneath a pulltab came the Merc...again thanks to the 6" Excelerator. I thought okay now I'm in business for another slam. Problem was that it was starting to get dark.

I popped on the 10 x 12 SEF coil and went to my old faithful standby spot at this site...a spot I call "the sandpit". It's a 15' x 20' square and has about 8" of sand before you get to the soil. I've never found a coin here at less than 9" so these critters are deep.
Right before dark I got that sweet little warble from waaayyyy down. I just knew it was gonna be the roosey I needed to complete my grand slam.
With my faithful buddy Hercules' help...we began to dig in the sand...and as you can see from the pic which shows the proud look on his face and sand on his snoot...Herky did a fine job.

From 11" down came the dark black disc...but it was a second Merc instead of the roosey I needed.

Oh well...a very sweet hunt for me...so I'm sure as heck not gonna complain.

Hope you fellers' are getting some hunting in. Should be some fields ready for many of us now that the farmers are getting all the crops out.
Thanks for viewing and good luck on your next hunt
