First I would like to thank SkiWhiz on the offer for the adapter. I already purchaced one.

As I said in a previous post, this is my first Tesoro and I'm very impressed. It was very easy to ground balance and I can't believe how well it discriminates. I did a side by side test using the Outlaw and my other dectector on some large square nails surrounding a dime. My other detector disply was bouncing all over the place while the Outlaw gave a perfect tone on the dime. That in it self made me feel good about purchacing the Tesoro. Looking forward to a real dig this weekend.
I'm still a bit confused on using the retune button for pinpointing..any information on that would be much appreciated.

.....The only sure way

All the way in is nothing more than all metal with auto retune of the threshold. Half way in is all metal with no retune of threshold. My retune button was a little buggy as well as the gb button way too touchy. Both issues have since been remedied and I look forward to learning it more. I find powerbalancing much better for me, maybe im just not that good at the whole gb thing, but powerbalancing is my preference. I find its not really hot on the higher conductive stuff as it is on gold and tab range. Not a bad thing though!! Its light, its fun, and loves gold. I still have a whole lot to learn about it though, im still a Tesoro newb. Good luck!

bonecrusher.......I've used alot of different makes of detectors and none can match my Tesoros in the iron nails. You made the right choice of detector in Tesoro's line up! It may not be the deepest detector out there but for what it does, it does well. I have been using one for the last 5 months and have used all of the coils and the 8" coil is my favorite. I have played around with the red button and will share a little trick, just to get aquainted with it... with the machine turned off press the red botton to about halfway and you will feel a halfway point of resistance This changes modes to (non-motion) All-Metal mode when using in the Disc. mode. Just play around with the red button with the half press and you can feel it, then when you depress the button all the way down it changes modes again into the "motion" all-metal (Auto). Of course, you can just use the toggle switch to change modes with also, I use the button a lot because I am used to it.There is another feature of the red button, when you are in (All-Metal) the middle position of the toggle switch and want to narrow or shrink the size of the signal (re-tune) just full press the red button while over the target and release it. I think this is a really neat feature as it will make the signal smaller and with the 8" open center coil you can mark a spot on the ground while looking through the open center of the coil. You are now over your detected target and the target will be right in the center of the coil.

For the best depth, I set the threshold on my Outlaw as high as it will go and then set the sensitivity as high as it will go without getting any chatter.

I don't need or use the pinpoint button, I just 'X' the target to pinpoint. It's much faster and is deadly accurate.

I love the the audio tone on the Outlaw. It's sweet music to my ears.

BC the outlaw is a very special machine, its not hyper like the vaquero, the outlaw is mellow & smooth when in disc i never used the retune button , i used that button when i hunted in no motion to reset the threshold or detune a target, I wish i had it still but can't own to many detectors at one time but i already want to get another one back I liked the all metal threshold for hunting ball fields because i could turn down the threshold and ignore a lot of small junk and still hit a gold ring with a clear signal just for that ability i really like the outlaw . it may not be super deep , but to me that was a bonus because when hunting all metal i would not detect a nail past 6" but only the targets in the upper 6" & i could ignore lots of foil if it was 1.5" deep if you get in more mineralized ground the 7" DD coos deeper than the 8" concentric, I also liked the 8" donut coil as it pinpointed so spot on I never needed the pinpoint button I have used 13 different detectors and the outlaw is in the top 5 that i liked if i was to go to a ball filed or soccer field i would use the outlaw not my VAQ, if I want better depth on relics say in the farm field then the VAQ would go out with me best of finds to you , GNR

For super pin pointing........ while in disc mode and you find your target......... go to all metal mode (NO Motion) (mode switch in the middle) x your target a couple times.........now press the red pin point button (while still in all metal mode) .........now press the Pin pointing button....... The target now has shrunk 90%...... your target is now dead center of your coil..... very precise pin pointing................ Pin pointing Don't get any better than this.

Good luck on the outlaw
