Got the new CTX yesterday!

Hello all, The new Ctx finally arrived. And I have had just enough time to put it together, charge it up, and go out to the backyard "coin garden" that was planted when I was running a Explorer 2. A bit different. I put the sound tone up to the 50 one as I mostly hunted by sound and looking at the screen placement. I immediately noticed the cursor was lower on the screen for silver than on the old explorer, but that's OK as long as its consistent I can get used to it. I think there is better separation and depth in the reading than the old explorer. The handbook has been downloaded and I printed out all pages and slapped them into a three ring binder. I think I will concentrate on the mechanics in the detecting info first and leave the mapping and GPS etc. for later. I did get a pair of Grey Ghost Headphones and a Minelab pin pointer. It seems that the Grey Ghosts are as good or better than any I have tried. What really surprised me was the performance of the minelab pin pointer. the detector mounted wand was handy as you didn't have to take the headphones off but the minelab one far outperforms any I have tried.
I see that they have some basic modes already in the detector is it best use those now?
Well, I know it will just take some time to learn what the machine is telling me, but I am still going out in the morning to my favorite spot and Dirt Fish!

Have fun!

Basic modes are a good start...

Congrats, I also just got mine about 2 weeks ago and started out using the basic modes. Ive also read everything I can on the forum and some books about hints and tips. I can tell the difference now from my e trac in the quickness and steadiness in the target id. Ive started to modify the mode and programs and like the simplicity too. Im learning as I go but its not as hard to pick up on as some have said.

Have a ton of fun.

Hey, Utahshovelhead, I agree with you. The ctx just feels right . It seems that so many thing I have said about the Exp 2 over the years, like "they should have done this or that " Minelab went and did with this detector.
