Got the detector back today. Done a real quick air test with the stock coil. More videos to come.

Great video! Thank you for showing the increments. Very strange. Someone painted the numbers, but soon he run out of space and had to increase to 10 :D.

Hey Bill, you think it is as hot as your XL-PRO 6000 you had awhile back? Thanks.

I really don't know. To me the air tests are about average I would think. Probably close to the other detectors in its price range. Not as deep as the higher end detectors but not too awful bad. I guess the real test will be in the ground....;o)

Although the air test as Bill said are about average in that price range, the real test will be in the dirt. I really expected the air test to be better. How does the M6 do air testing? Is it deeper? I am seriously contemplating buying my first Whites detector, but whatever the next detector is, I want deep for a single freq. VLF. It's not hard to find good reviews on Whites. Haven't seen hardly anything bad, and when I have it usually seems more user error. I detect for mainly coins and my area is sandy or soft top soil where I hunt and very mild. I have found 70's coins in the 6-7 range, along with late 60's on a regular basis in some areas. These are the sandy areas. I want to get deeper and don't want to go broke doing it! Any suggestions from you Whites guru's would be appreciated. I always enjoy reading this forum.

My air tests we equal to or even better than my mxtpro which for several hundred less i thought was fantastic..also it id's at its full depth or very very close.. Which was better than my other detectors. I also max sens while doing tests so all are as equal as possible for me.. I test each coil on each machine and my main coil is the sef 10x12 and i get really good in ground depth with it.. And i agree on the two things coil connector and headphone jack. Bad just bad. Lol but the headphone cord really dont bother me.

Still interesting air tests. I sure hope you can get out next week, calling for the 50's, SWEET!
Good luck with the MX5 :detecting:

Thanks for taking the time to make this video and sharing, appreciated. I look forward to your future video's

On a notch discrimination machine like this, do you lose any depth as you increase the discrimination (blank out lower targets)?

My gut feeling is that you probably don't, but you could confirm that.

Thanks,

Dan

I did the test with everything from zinc and below notched out. I had the same results with a quarter. It did not seem to lose any depth.

Thanks Bill, First good video I've seen on the mx5. I also would love to see the difference the d2 coil would make. I'm on the fence between the Mxt pro and the Mx5. I have a offer on a Mxt all pro - 2 coils (10"DD &9"spider)NEW for 800.00, but if I can get the same depth with the mx5 I would probably take the lighter, cheaper machine... Does any one have any opinions between the two machines???? Thanks

My air tests and in field performance is really close. The mx5 is based off the mxt platform and is basically an mxtpro but in a lighter digital version and to me better version. It matches or betters any mxt or mxtpro or m6 ive ever had.

Thanks basstrackerman, In your performance comparison were you using the same the same coil? I really like what I'm reading on the mx5. and I bet it will go deep with the D2 coil. I need a detector that will hit on a dime at 8" and a quarter at 10" in somewhat mild soil. I'm mainly a coin and jewelry hunter, not to say I would never do relics, just never have. The beach feature is also nice.

10" is pushing limits of most machines. On a perfect day and perfect swing may do it. 10" quarters are not common. I know they are found but a rare occasion.

So true.
