Went out on Sunday and had a good cellar hole hunt. Weather was great and my coin to button ratio was backwards:rofl:

Darned nice day of hunting. I'd trade for that button ratio any day.

WOW Coinnut :yikes: . Love your old cellar holes ! AWESOME DIGS ! What is the 1864 OUR ARMY ? That is a Cool Piece . Congrats on another Great Hunt and Fantastic Finds :clapping:

Congrats on the great hunt! i really like the 1864 Our Army!!! That is a very cool find! Good work for sure, Beale.

Thanks Terri. The 1864 is a civil war token. There was a shortage of small change, so some took it upon themselves to mint some "tokens" and give some political or business views. It came out in great shape. I never clean my finds during the hunt, so I thought it was an Indian because of the wreath. But it was better than that!!!

i wanna go to coinnut's house for the weekend! really! wow, what a great haul. wow. all i can say is wow. congratulations on the great hunt, coinnut. what a bunch of nice coppers, and a war token too. i can tell the vast differences in the finds you make when you switch machines. hmmm. food for thought. hh!

Thanks Ghost. The E trac can locate items about 2" deeper (under some circumstances). When we found a target, we would locate it with the DFX and say it was 6" down. We could raise the DFX another 4" above the ground and still hit that target (10" total) When we did that with the E Trac we got 6 more inches above ground (total 12"). BUT..... most of our targets are in the 8 to 10" range and the DFX flies much faster than the E Trac does. SO.... I can hit more targets in less time than the E Trac can. But in a trashy park, I would use the E Trac for it's depth and separation in trash. Any time you are up here, you are welcome to come hunt a couple of sites with us.

Don't know where you are located, but I'm in western Mass. These type of finds are almost in every state, but are more numerous in the eastern part of the country. But research and talking with neighbors is the way to find these types of targets. AND did I mention patience, perseverance and sometimes not knowing when to quit:blink: Good luck

Now thats a find..Where can I find stuff like that?

What a great day out! (I would absolutely be pumped to go detecting back east!) What's that Large Cent look like on the back? I have a die variety book (@ work) to attribute as to a rarity. I know it's old and crusty but.... that can be secondary on a tougher variety. Be more than happy to check it out for you. Again...Nice hunt!

Hey, Thanks, I loved that site. It was good to me. Not completely untouched, but close enough. I've posted two different 1803's I've found at two different but close sites. If you can make any attribution on them, that would be great. The first obv & rev is the one pictured before, the last two pics are from another better shape one. Are you using Breens Encyclopedia or another one? Thanks again.

I mean I have found coins, upon coins. But the older stuff, not yet. I have a ton of silver quarters, dimes etc. And one Large cent to date. I guess, I just need to keep pounding ground!

Real nice coins.Buckles are nice also!
