Got the CZ21 today

The contol box, cables and headphones look to be built very well and the headphones are comfortable. The shaft and mount for the control box, on the other hand seem pretty flimsy.

What really gets me is if you pick up the detector with the coil up, the control box falls of the mount. Am I missing something? :surprised:

But still, it looks like a great machine. The control box looks bullet proof.

It's a new one. I'm having a friend check it out who has an CZ21. He said it shouldn't be doing that, either. Is there supposed to be some kind of fastener or is it supposed to stay on by friction alone?

If I remember right you slide it from the side closest to the cuff to the coil on the plate. The groves on both sides need to fit on the plate.

Thanks, scubadetecter. It slides on fine, but it isn't too difficult for it to slid right off if you turn the detector coil up.

Unless you're going to be diving you will probably eventually hip/chest mount. Swinging the coil and control box will wear you
out on a long hunt. Originally I hip-mounted the box and used the Anderson shaft which was fine, but tried the coil on an
old s-shaft I had from another detector and worked out fine.

I dive with my Excal. I think this one is going to be wading only. One of the reason I got this one was so I woldn't have to be switching my excal from the straight shaft to the scuba shaft all the time.

Mine slides on and off easily also and I thought the same thing when I got mine about it being somewhat cheaply made. I have not tried picking up the detector by the coil though so I do not know if my control box will fall off or not.

Yeah I don't actually pick mine up by the coil, either. After two hunts, a little sand got in there and I now have a tight fit. Anderson shaft is on its way, anyhow.

Heres a chest/hip mount. If you dont like chest, you can slip a wide quick release scuba divers belt through the slots. Made out of a plastic trolling battery box, a drill, snips, and a knife in about 10 minutes.
