Got #'s 47 and 48 yesterday...

Yesterday, I headed out with my usual hunting partner, and spent about 5 hours hunting two old (1910-ish and 1924) schools. We did fairly well -- he got two junk rings, a silver earring, a tax token, six wheaties, a '28 Merc, and a '53 Rosie, plus a bunch of clad. I got a tax token, 6 wheats, and two Mercs -- a '41 and '41-D, along with some clad. After I left, my partner went to one more old school (1909) for about an hour, and he managed one more goodie -- a very nice 1905-O Barber dime.

I was surprised we didn't find a couple more silvers -- especially since the majority of the wheats we both found were at the first school we hit -- and there were several that were as old as the nineteen-teens. Given the number of wheats we found there, and OLD ones, to boot, I was surprised that that spot only yielded us one Merc and the Rosie. You just never know; the other school we hit yielded no wheats, but one silver for each of us. Strange!

In any case, five silvers, a dozen wheats, a couple of tax tokens, and a little jewelry for two guys was a pretty successful (and fun) hunt overall.

For me personally, those two Mercs were silvers 47 and 48 for the year; two down, two more to go to hit my goal of 50! For me, that will be an incredible year, as I had found exactly ZERO silvers prior to April of this year, when I purchased my Explorer; things obviously changed in a hurry after getting used to this incredible silver-hunting machine!

Nice coins Steve .... I think a 1941-S merc would have been the perfect 3rd for that day !:super:

I'm finished for the year I think. So I'll be rooting for you in your quest for the 5-0 !!!

Congrats my friend.

I have no doubt you will fulfill your dream of 50.

With the explorers and some patience...the sky's the limit.

Amazing machines arent they?

I truly feel if you take the time to learn them....they are the best deep turf coin hunters on the planet.
