Last target of the day was a real nice eagle button with the shank intact, Waterbury backmark, great detail and nice green patina. Too bad I about cut it into with my shovel!!  Oh well!! This is the only time I will be glad it wasn't a confederate button.

Walked the fields, hills and woods for about 6 hours. I actually found 2 minies on top of the ground ( first time I've done that ), The ground was extremely dry and hard as a rock, we hacked into it all day long, I know thats why Scott killed his button, I would have too. We dug a bunch of trash and a few good bullets. It's a very promising place but pretty big so it will take some time to hunt it, thats a good thing, got my winter planned now. About an hour into the hunt a pain hit me of the bad sorts hard and fast:thumbdown::unsure:, no time and too far away to find a bathroom. Luckly I found some woods and a downed tree and did that civil war deal like the soliders had to (them fellers had it rough as I found out), lost a good diggin towel in the process but was glad that I had it. Hunted all day with the MXT and now have a handle on how to use it for my neck of the woods, don't know what will happen in the hot ground but it does real good here. Enjoyed the company of Mike, he's a rookie but catchin on real quick, and Scott. Ole Scott is a relic hunting machine, will go at it all day long as long as the lollipops and candy hold out. Man it was a great day, for the most part........... Flipper out
