I got some fun time in this past Wed. and Thurs. No earth shakers but I did glom a silver ring and quarter. My copper was a 34 Wheat. And any copper from the 20's or 30's starts to catch my interest.

Thats some really unusual stuff even for you! :clapping: Hunting an old park that still in use or something huh Chris?
Nice silvers, and that little car clock and finger knife are cool..

To be honest I ran around those two days like a brain damaged rat. Ping ponging from one spot to another with no focus. My original aim was to check out two schools. The first, demo'd, turned out to be worked over and I just didn't feel any "confidence" there, if that makes any sense. The second school was nice to me late last fall but was found to be totally blocked off with construction fencing now. And Lord was I drooling to check out the ripped up areas, including the monstrous dirt mound. I ended up mainly checking boulevard grass strips and a small park from the 40's.

A ring, a silver coin, some old loot and new loot. Doesn't get too much better then that!

Thanks. As sucky or spoiled as it may sound, my satisfaction level rises considerably when silver pops out. I am going out tomorrow to try Cat Sh.. Mountain. This is a field that has coughed up nicely in years past but has been untouchable due to the crops. It is semi roughly plowed now and should be drying up. There are no guarantees of course, and every year gets a bit harder there, but at least I pretty much know that any coin coming out of this field is between the 1870's and 1920's, usually in the teens. I call it Cat Sh.. Mountain because the eccentric farmer has about 20-30 cats and there is a nauseatingly skanky mountain of cat urine soaked feces that he dumps by the field. I can smell it a long way off depending on the wind. It's near enough to a gag reflex after a rain and the wind blowing toward me. I'll try to take some fresh pictures.

I know what you mean about that dirt mound. I received permission to hunt around an old one-room school house that was being converted into a residence. They had scraped the whole school yard into a big pile at the corner of the property probably 20 years ago. The pile was perforated with woodchuck holes and covered with shrubs and such. I climbed over and around that pile for about an hour before throwing in the towel. You know darn well that there's treasure in there but the only way to get it would be by spreading that pile out which the property owner may do some day. Every time I drive by that lot, my eyes wander over to that pile, just waiting and hoping the same guy owns it when it does get spread out.

Nice assortment of finds, upnorth. I always enjoy finding rings, even if they are junk. Silver is just one step from gold and I love the car clock. I hit some dirt piles around the 1st of the year, but they were piled so high all I found was trash.

love the car clock!
