We went to a private yard here in Eureka and did a little detecting. The owner is doing a total remodeling of his home. He told us it use to be an old school house back in it's day. I'm guessing in the late 1800's. That made our hearts go pitter-patter. WOW, and we've got permission to hunt it any time! I had the 10" coil on my MXT and off I went. Right off the bat I found the 1879 Indian cent and then shortly after that I found the cool knife. On the other side of the knife is a pattern and initials A - K. I've never seen anything like it.........two dogs??? One saying "OYES"???? Strange. Anyway, then I came across the two wheat cents 1936 - 44. I also found about 3 cents in clad. Had a great time, and we also got permission to hunt his brothers yard that is right next door. The two houses take up a full block on one side of the road. That means "We'll be back". Thanks for looking and HH to all, Nancy

Great finds Nancy, that Indian looks to be in great shape for an 1879. MAN that's is a really nice find. an that pocket knife has some nice engraving on it, to bad the blade is gone:clapping:

Nancy, Nancy,

You are really getting good with that coil. I can't believe all the great coins for you this year. Rob

Naw, I would have found them with any coil. They weren't all that deep. I'm guessing the Indian was the deepest at 5 - 6 inches deep. Thanks for the comments! :) HH to all, Nancy

Larry cleaned the knife up even more and it's beautiful. Yes, too bad the blade is rusted off. We've got a friend that deals in old knives and I'll have to send him a picture of it and see what he comes up with. Hope I can find some info on it. Thanks, Nancy

Thanks Rob. I can't believe it either. I think this year has been my record year for finds. It's been one great year!!! And I thank the BIG guy upstairs quite often. It sure doesn't hurt. Thanks a bunch, Nancy

I really like that knife and the IH is in great shape. Can't wait to see what you get on the next trip.

Hey Nancy , Very nice finds there ! I was curious as to what 10 inch coil you were referring to ? Thank you . Argentium.

Argentium, The coil is the 10" DD Excellerator. It's the same one that "rcasio44" is testing out for KellyCo and reporting to us all. It's a great lightweight coil and so far, so good! HH to all, Nancy

Nancy, have you seen any difference between the 10" and your stock coil? Rob

Rob, I just posted on another post about it. I don't like the way it pinpoints. It's a bit hard to dead center the object. I do like the depth better than the stock. Also there were times when I know I had my stock coil over the soil where I found a few targets that the 10" coil picked out. One was a wheat cent. I also found quite a few pieces of metals with the 10" coil that I had already been over with the stock coil which there was no signal or possibly an iffy signal at the most. I do like it, and I'll be trying to adjust pinpointing. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear. Thanks and HH, Nancy

I'm sure I can't tell you more than Larry. As I stated in another post, My 5", 8" and 6x10 are all DD coils. So pinpointing with the 10" was nothing new. Usually I move the coil left to right finding shallowest reading, then I pull the coil back until the signal drops off. The Target is then under the front edge of the coil. This is the same method everyone uses with the 6x10 coil. Rob

Rob, I do remember the instructional photo and thanks for the reminder. I would do just that with the target, but then I would back the coil up to "center" it with the coil. Maybe that's my problem? It was taking so long to pinpoint and I don't like waiting. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. I will do the pinpointing as your photo suggests and get back with you. With this weather, we might have to get our snow-suits on soon. Thanks again, Nancy

I do like rob find shallowest depth highest pitch move of to left and right to hear it fall off then remove coil and bring heel in till i start to hear it. heel from 45 right and 45 left and crossing point is were the coins lays might be off slightly if deep.Hope this helps
