Got out today with the At-Pro....The machine is very powerful not for the weak of heart:wiggle:

I know why some people are saying it's noisy....Because it is.. But I mean it in a good way....

It's the type machine you will alway's pull target's out of the ground with in sight...Very reminiscent of a 1266 just with tones and lots of power..if it did not have a ground balance you could not run it in certain dirt such as my red N.Ga clay//

First digital machine I have used that runs with tonal quality's like analog machine has...with this machine you can massage signals out of the ground...

will take alot of hours to get the most out of this machine..Very sensitive very deep ...very learnable

Will cause some people lot's of problem's in the pro mode so take it careful...I have hunted 30 years and up to 10 years ago or so I could not of run this powerful of a machine without out knowing how powerful machine's run..

Garrett has created a monster and I am afraid they might of made it to hot for the average user to appreciate if that makes sense...

Dont' mean to sound discouraging but ....take your time with this machine and learn the audio..Bad ground wqill give the iron roll's on good target's but they have the round sound you can tune your ear too with sometimes a hint of high tone breaking through on the deepies..

I was running wide open sens pro mode,,,25 disc,,,,custom nothing notched...

It likes it all big to small.....

I ran it in a pure Iron hole today...it's a 1850's house site...hunted to death with all the top machine's...Last time in I was just digging surface type low conductor junk with the other unit..

this time in the At-Pro lit the site up hit's everywhere...Lot's of .22 lead and Hull's and shotgun hull's...

Ended up hunting 4 hour's and got a few keeper's

couple of ball Button's one deep in photo ... these are cuff size and this one was over 10 inches in clay..
1 toe tap in photo about 11 inches in red clay..
.69 round ball
carved 3 ringer
melted lead
and a neat half of a sash buckle..

Thanks

Good post Keith...sounds like Pro mode is a keeper and latest reports on it show that the Pro mode is also the mode to use on the beach/surf.

Love the smell of that red clay!

Good finds and report!

Hey Keith----Been looking forward to your report all day.---Was really hopeing you would get it posted tonight.---Sounds like that AT PRO is going to be a "good 'un" for relic (and coins)! ------Thanks for the report.----------Del

Thanks Keith...

Greatness! I agree with your assessment of the power and have been itching to take my AT to my own little 'iron patch' old homesite! I compare this detector to the first time I rode a 250cc dirtbike..I knew it had a power band but didn't know exactly what that could mean till I was on the ground watching the bike ride away....LOL!!

Maybe they can or have already printed that above X- sensitivity setting should only be for experienced users. It is better to have too much power than not enough.

Here in VA where we have more relic hunters per capita in our area than anywhere I know of & you have to have a powerful detector to get a beep.

Places we used to dig 25 bullets every time now you can't get a beep with most machines and even the best detectors have to be jacked up to dig the few 12" to 14" deep minnies that are left.

I run my V3 on boost mode, gain 15 and disc. sens on 92 to get the last few targets in some areas.

I have been wanting to try the AT pro but wondered what kind of depth it would get but now this answers the question.

My next concern was how would it do in iron but that seems to be really good as well so next week I will have one.

Guys, thanks for getting out in the trenches and giving us some feedback.

They say we are only supposed to get 8" of snow this winter so I hope to do some serious detecting this year.

Thanks, Jerry

Jerry ,
Your 4 confederate, 100 flat buttons down already. Come out of your cave. Tex:look:

Garrett, Please do not ever lower the sensitivity. Leave it where it is to be adjusted by the user. I just had an F brand dumbed down. Very disapointing.

I hope to try mine in a few days. I spend Thanksgiving with 28 of my relatives. This is a fishing trip at a State Park that doesn't allow metal detecting.
