My friend Dave, his wife, and I went to a park that we have frequented in the past and did a little coin-shooting. Dave found a real nice silver Christ pendant and I was just diggin coins and trash. We were headed back to the towards the cars to get a drink and a Department of Parks and Rec's dude drove up and asked us about detectors. We gave him some info and a couple of websites to check out.
While we were talking to the City dude, I asked him if we could hunt the pool grounds. (There is a city pool in this park and Dave and I have always wanted to detect it but it is locked and has "No Trespassing" signs up all over it.) And to our pleasant surprise he say SURE!!!! I'll unlock the gate on the other side of it, just make sure no kids get in and lock it up after you are finished.!!!! WOOO HOOOO!
The next 3 and a half hours was pure coin-shooting bliss!! When all was said and done I had $14.45 in change. I felt like Elson on one of his good days with Falk. I ended up with $11.50 in quarters, $1.60 in dimes, .95 in nickles and .20 in cents. I actually got tired digging QUARTERS!!!! I have never had a quarter day like today, it was fun.
I also found a nice watch, two silver rings, a junk ring, a key and some copper screw thingie. Dave kicked butt in the silver ring department. He ended up with four silver rings, two of them were horking LARGE things!! He ended up with over $10.00 himself and his wife found at least two silver rings and around $5.00 as well!
Not a bad day for all of us. (Sorry Pam
She is in New York with her mom right now.)
