Well, while the weather was in the 50s, I thought I better get out while I can... Hit a local tot lot with bark chips, and only found 2 dimes, 1 nickel, 2 Lincolns, and 3 zincolns for 30 cents in clad, and a Super Star necklace....maybe gold plated, but I doubt it...Spent about 45 min out, as it was getting dark and cold VERY fast...

HH,

Hi metalkid...Clad is any coin produced in the USA that is no longer has Silver content...This would be pennies after 1984, Nickels, Dimes & Quarters after 1965..They are usually made of a zinc alloy CLAD (plated with) in nickel...Someone correct me if I am wrong...
My advice to you would be to get ahold of the RED or Blue Books, published by Whitman...You will learn about all kinds of coins you have never heard of before.

Happy Hunting,

Ya go go ! small correction, the zinc Penny's started in 83, some were copper tho,, you have to weigh them to to tell whats copper or zinc.,, copper will weigh about 3.1 grams an the zinc will be at about 2.5 too 2.6 grams,,, i keep them separate , copper is is about 2 to one now, mite be a waste of time but just adds more fun to the find LOL

I got my scale At harbor Fright for $10.00 on Sale Normal price is About 13.00 last time I ck the copper penny's were 3 to 1 at the dealers, I don't think they will give you that much , but the price of copper will go up in the future,, Just some thing else to think about An besides it adds to the fun of the hunt an gives you something to do in the freezing weather,, when you can't get out to hunt :wiggle:
