Got out a little today with the Sovereign

My brother wants to attend a seeded hunt in PA in three weeks my Sovereign will be the detector used. The Elite has worked well in the past, but I need every advantage to get my sign up fees back. One improvement that could help is to have the all metal toggle switch mounted close to the handle to help make my pinpointing better.Nothing is never easy to accomplish, even installing a remote pin pointer on my Sovereign. At first I thought it would be quick, just remove two screws and the stock toggle switch would be exposed, wrong the ribbon is too close and any mistakes movement could burn this into and the Sovereign would need a major repair. To complete this remote switch the four front screws must be removed from the face plate. The box coil connector has to come lose, warning these tabs can break very easy so once the nut is loosen and the washers slide the connector off carefully twist a little and pull through just enough to pull the connector wires between the box tabs to free up.With everything done the ribbon can be moved out of harms way to access the all metal / disc.switch, from here a very easy solder.I drilled a small hole on the Sovereign case in front about an inch and half away from the coil connector for a RCA female plug,by the way at this point this is just a bare case and very easy to work with, with my hole drilled smaller than the needed for the RCA connector I used a round rasp to get a perfect fit and to get the rough plastic edges off. With two wires 6 inch long soldered to the switch and the RCA ground washer, everything is reinstalled, circuit board and connector. With the tip of the RCA connector tinned,it can now be mounted to the case and the positive wire soldered on.My goal was to connect a RCA cord to the Sovereign box and to the toggle switch. With everything completed took the Sovereign out to Independence Oaks county park and dug some clad.Pinpointing was much easier and the R&D on the new meter with the 200ohm outside pot held its calibration, even after loaded in back my jeep. Later Ron, sorry for rambling
