Got my X-1 probe and Explorer stand...question:

There are four straps that hold the X-1 to the Explorer. The stand is supposed to go where those four straps are. Will the straps keep the stand from sticking properly to the Explorer?
Thanks.

If you slide your arm rest back a bit it will mount fine. There is a better place to mount the probe. I and many others mounted it in the upper arm just above the clamp. I mounted mine on the left side but others have mounted it on top. The benefits are that if you forget to switch it back to the coil it will make a loud squeel when you place it in the holder. The other is it is much more accessable there than in the back of the detector. You can e-mail me at NWCactus@attbi.com and I can e-mail you back a picture of my setup.

Strange thing happened this evening. I took the detector out with the new probe and new Gray Ghost headphones to a site I've hunted before. The machine was acting very strange. I would hear the sound but it would take 4 to 5 seconds for the crosshairs to move. It seemed like everything was in slow motion. I was so exhasperated by it I had to go home.
When I got home I tried the old headphones that came with the Explorer. It worked fine then. But after that I put on the new headphones and then it worked fine. So I don't know what the problem was at the detecting site.
Maybe something just needed to rattle in place on the way home?
Anyway, thanks for the info on where to put the new equipment.

Mine's up on the side under the armrest. I don't know HOW many times I forgot to switch back to the coil and took off a'swinging!!! It would be sort of embarrassing but nobody's around to see it anyway. Besides, I can get away with a lot of stuff like that since I'm a Polack and all <IMG SRC="/forums/images/wink.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=";)">

Ha Ha I like it, I have been there and got the T shirt to prove it.
I still sometimes forget,it would be handy to have a little red warning light on the end of the switch.Jerry.
