got my sapphire back today!

hi all, we all went to the gemstone mine 2 weekends ago, and found some sapphires, aquamarines, and garnets. i couldn't detect on that particular day, they were calling for severe thunderstorms. if you spend 50 bucks or more, you get a free cut. so we opted to send out one of the sapphires, and came back today at 3.84 carats! it's worth around 200 bucks, and is beautiful. it's not a metal detecting find, but it is a treasure from the earth. today i found a huge thumb sized garnet, having it emerald cut, will see it in 2 weeks. thanks, and hh,

Only place I know of around here is the Herkimer Diamond Mines...quarts crystal diamonds...Only been there once...that saph is a nice size, and looks really dark...the way I like em...I want a Star Sapphire for my wedding band when I get married...

That's a great looking stone. I don't know what state you're in but what mine did you go to? We're planning a trip in '09 to head up to Franklin TN and hit a couple of the mines there. We've never been there but have been wanting to go for several years. This year we're going to visit the wife's grandparents who just happen to be about an hour away from a mine that has tourmaline. We just found out it and we can't wait, even Granny excited about going.
