BBT brought it this afternoon. Unwrapped package to find a neat looking machine. While assembling I noticed a rattling sound iside the control box, I thought this can't be good. Installed batteries turned on machine and nothing, that's right nothing! Repacked and sent back to factory, IM pissed, big time.

if that happened to me. If it did come out of the factory shame on them and why didn't the dealer check it out before shipping it?
Good Luck, ArtWI

It does happen. Doesn't have to be box damage to have been broken during shipping either. Some dealers won't check a machine out before shipping as you have to break the factory seal to do so. There are customers that think they are getting a used machine if the factory seal is broken. I guess my point is that things happen, and it maybe isn't even Tesoros or your dealers fault. I hope your machine comes back to you just the way you want it.

I also got a junker (not a tesoro) but what was even worst, it worked just well enough to fool me at the start of the year into using it. Air tested great but the results just were not there. With in about a month things were really bad and no question I knew there was a serious problem. Sent it in, got it back and was not fixed. There is no way I would accept anything less than a properly working detector. Shipping back to the company shouldn't be your problem either.

Ouch! Reputable Dealers will replace it. Hope the next one's better.

Well Dave, I would be displeased too and I was, when the same thing happened when I got a DeLeon.
I think the way the batteries are packed, is the reason they are falling out of the battery holders.
Maybe Tesoro should pack the batteries the same way they do for the Lobo ST, in a padded envelope.
Anyway, I bought new batteries and started testing.

Reminds me of the time when I sent my El Dorado back
to the factory for repairs. Got it back, detector
looked like it had been run over with a fork lift, and not a scratch on the carton. What a phenomena!
Moral of the story: Don't complain!
