Got my new SE Pro today and was able to dig 3 signals before I got poured on. My impressions

Well, it was calling for rain today but, my SE Pro arrived today so I had to get out.
It arrived about noon and I assembled it set it and off I went. I headed back to where 2 days ago I found the old handmade copper ring with the garnet.
First thing I noticed was how much it felt lighter then my II due to the position of the coil and lighter coil weight I assume. It felt far more balanced for sure.
I did not put my probe on it yet as I have not even checked to see if the shafts are the same as of this posting. Not to mention the rain has come.
If it interchanges I reckon I will have a white mid shaft on the Pro so I can switch back and forth.
Well, I headed off to the same area I found the ring and my first signal was a piece of junk copper about 5" then I got a decent hit that I circled that pegged around like a old copper.
I dug down about 7" and cut my plug but, not having a probe and the ground wet from morning rain I pulled the plug off and scanned it and nothing. I then grabbed the dirt from the bottom of the hole and clumped it and scanned it over the coil and it was in there.
Going through the clump out fell a late 1800s Trade Token made of copper.
I will say it sounds better then my II. The sounds are clearer imho and let me tell you something Minelab should warn about. ;)
This is my 3rd dig and I got a bigger hit and then I hit Pinpoint and now I might need new eardrums. it was a 6" buried old car and man does that VCO pinpoint get high and loud when centered.
I was never a fan of VCO but, I think after seeing how it pinpointed the token dead center I might have changed my mind. Not that I had a problem ever pinpointing with the II this seems to just be a better more exact tool one can use when needed.
Another thing I noticed the 10.5 stock coil does not pick on the outer edge areas whereas the 11 Pro Coil seems like it senses more farther outward on the coil.
I have not read the manual but, I will have to see where the tones are. By that I mean the II has normal audio 1,2,3 etc. I did not seem to see this but, I saw the smooth and pitch hold area but, not the audio area.
With this I conclude the SE Pro seems to be just as good as the II in all ways and far better balanced yet, I have not got the chance to sweep a deep silver/indian yet.
As after my lil car that blew my ears off in pinpoint mode it started pouring again after only about 30 minutes being out..
I also will conclude when I purchased my old SE (not pro) I must have had the erratic coil problems with the slim line as this Pro coil is far and away better.
Here is my only real keeper from my quick 30 minutes or so with me new SE Pro pictured below.

I hope everyone has a great weekend whether hunting or not. Thanks for looking.

I have never ran a Explorer II so I can comment on it.. But I can promise you the SE has no problem nailing deep silver coins. :detecting: Good luck and enjoy your new toy :) Sweet token by the way!!!

I should have said that I meant that due to the sounds. I am more curious if the deepies sound the same as this Pro seems to have (maybe my II is just gtting old) a better audio circuitry.
I should not have ended my sentence above about the audio and put (so, with this I conclude etc).
I think the factory setting on the II for Gain is 5 but, now on the Pro it is 8 so, I wonder if I will need to back down the Gain "amplifier" so the deeper hits are more to what I am accustomed.

Thanks for the kind words. :clapping:

Cool token Mike and congrats on the new explorer!! Your going to find a bunch of good stuff with it!!!

Looks like you are off to a good start Mike.:clapping: That token is pretty cool and you are going to love your SE. I don't leave home without mine. HH.

Nice job on your first outing. YES, the Pro coil is "hot" around the edges, such that the edges of the coil will pick up shallow targets (coins, for instance, that are under, say, 2" deep, will sometimes "triple beep" on you as you hit it with the edge, center, and other edge of the coil while sweeping it). Sometimes, when starting out with the SE Pro, this gets you, as you "pinpoint" what you think is a deeper coin, but it's actually a shallow one that is hitting at the edge of the coil. I don't have that problem now, but I can remember having it happen several times in the first couple of months I was using this machine/coil. Just takes some getting used to, is all...
