I have been using my GB SE in as many different environments as possible; at work looking for sprinkler heads pipes and wires, in my yard, even took it to the beach, and found 2 quarters (even though I only got a very loud and clear beep in one direction). Im taking it prospecting Saturday...I would like to see how it works around hot rocks. Im actually happy with the way it works in all metal, which is the mode I'll probably use the most. I have found it to be quite sensitive, and easy to use, and the threshold pretty stable even with the gain cranked up. I do want the discriminate mode to work good however...not great, just good...I bought it for prospecting first.
I have spoken with a Fisher technician, a couple of times regarding the discriminate mode and the silver issue, and discussed the unit with him and some displays that I didnt understand that werent covered very well in the manual, and he recommended sending it in any time and letting them do a complete check on it, and make it right. I do trust that they will make good on that.
For now I just want to use it, learn the machine, and mabe in the process, I will be able to include some good input to the technicain when I do send it in. I do like the machine, I would like it to work better on coins, and I havent really used it for relics or jewelry (although while at the beach if I had found relics or jewelry I could say I had).
I took it out today, with my companies F70, so I could compare "ground phase" readings, and found out that my companies F70 Ground Grab, is probably malfunctioning, and will be sending it in as well.
