Got my money back on the Gold Bug I am holding off

for now...I am still interested in the machine but I feel the Gold Bug need's some ironing out first.Probably no big deal but with all the different editions (3 right Now) and the soon to be released GB2 I want to lay back an observe first!

Got my new GB SE today, works very well in All Metal, but, doesnt do silver dollars, quarters in discriminate mode...just in a fews hours playing with it, I like it....worth sending it in to get the silver issue delt with. Its very sensitive, in my test garden Ive got lead shot 6.2 grn @ 4 inches, 7.7 grn @ 5 inches, 7.7 grn @ 5 inches, 18 grn @ 5 inches, and 21 grn @ 6-7 inches, and it sounded off clearly on each. I would love to see how it works and stacks up with an 11" DD coil against a f70. For now Im going to have to find me some of that yella metal so I can buy a new coil.

RRandy thats another faulty unit i got my money back today, what use is a detector that wont find silver.

Very dissapointed and doubt i will buy one untill they sort it out

I will keep mine even if it is a fautly one, (and it probably will be fautly).
I was assured that Fisher would make it right, so i will give them the chance to do so..
Does the whole mess with the SE/PRO and whatever model they plan to call it stink ?? "YOUR DAMN RIGHT IT DOES"
But i knew this before i ordered it and was hopeful that i would get a good one and if it was my only detector i would get my money back as well.
I just want it to operate as advertised and if i have to send it to Fisher to do so , then i can live with that. But if i get it back and it is not 100% then i will be one. "Pissed off Power Ranger"
I might get lucky when ups drops it off tomorrow and get one that is perfect, but odds are not very good that that will happen.,.lol

It is advertised as a coin, jewelry and Relic machine, so if mine doesn't pick up gold, silver etc, then yes, I will send mine back even though this will be a big pain.

"Today is the day"
My GB SE will be delivered today and i hope its a good one.
If not, "no worries" because Fisher will take care of it.

Ok guys and gals, i got my GB SE about a hr or so ago and it is going to take a trip back to Fisher/FT..
"Well since i am going out of town the GB SE will be a $500 paper weight on my counter until next Monday.".....

The issues i have are as follows.
1. Silver issues like everyone else
2. The arm cuff is scuffed up
3. There is specks of something, (?? i have no idea what) on the inside of the screen.
4. The rubber washer for the coil was not even in the box..

I thought in the pics of the SE on line, that special edition was printed on the rod, "hmm i guess they forgot it on mine"...

This is the worst QC i have ever seen...
Thanks
Shawn

I have the same scuffing issue and specks on the inside of the screen that you do Shawn. I'll wait until things calm down and then send it back.

Serisouly, is there no quality control on these things beforethey ship them off. There is no excuse for sending out an 'apparently' new product to customers if they haven't first tested them and inspected them for cosmetic flaws. This is manufactoring 101 boys and girls. I am going to be cheesed if mine shows up like what has been reported above. Talk about taking the wind out of my sails. I am excited to getmine, but my god, if I have to send it back due to to flaws ....grrrrrrrr:nopity:

Well Dwayne you can bet there'll be something wrong with it. Mine works well, but has some cosmetic problems. Since FT bought Fisher and the roll out of the F75 there have been problems. The quality control is piss poor, but at the end of the day they make one of the best machines on the market, when they finally get it working properly.

I have been using my GB SE in as many different environments as possible; at work looking for sprinkler heads pipes and wires, in my yard, even took it to the beach, and found 2 quarters (even though I only got a very loud and clear beep in one direction). Im taking it prospecting Saturday...I would like to see how it works around hot rocks. Im actually happy with the way it works in all metal, which is the mode I'll probably use the most. I have found it to be quite sensitive, and easy to use, and the threshold pretty stable even with the gain cranked up. I do want the discriminate mode to work good however...not great, just good...I bought it for prospecting first.

I have spoken with a Fisher technician, a couple of times regarding the discriminate mode and the silver issue, and discussed the unit with him and some displays that I didnt understand that werent covered very well in the manual, and he recommended sending it in any time and letting them do a complete check on it, and make it right. I do trust that they will make good on that.

For now I just want to use it, learn the machine, and mabe in the process, I will be able to include some good input to the technicain when I do send it in. I do like the machine, I would like it to work better on coins, and I havent really used it for relics or jewelry (although while at the beach if I had found relics or jewelry I could say I had).
I took it out today, with my companies F70, so I could compare "ground phase" readings, and found out that my companies F70 Ground Grab, is probably malfunctioning, and will be sending it in as well.

After reading these comments..there really is some true diehard fisher fans out there...i to love my fishers...but they are not overseas junk..there is noway i would buy these products with this many issues...i havent seen so many problems with any other company like this in my life..obviously there is no quality control here...i would send mine back with a return check...come on...you americans!!!! wake up...
