Got my first SLQ today!!

Went out to my favorite spot in the woods were people have been camping since the 1920's and tried a new spot. I walked off the foot path and boom my first target was this 1926 SLQ. This has been on my wish list for a long time!! It's pretty worn but I don't care :super: I also managed 2 silver rosies, 3 wheats, a cool little cub scout pin, and some clad. What an awesome feeling that was when I saw that SLQ!! Can't wait to get back out there!! HH everyone!!

Nice finds! Real tough to get those SLQ's. I like the cub scout pin!

SLQ's are special aren't they? More scarce than most people think and always a joy to find!

Thanks for all the comments!! It was a shock to me!! I have only dug like 2 or 3 Washington silver quarters on this place so it doesn't give them up easily for sure..I hope we all score big in 2012!! HH guys!!

Indeed over the years found 8 or 9......but from one particuiar area found 4 so guess it depends on the history of the area you are hunting...most are really worn and only can remember one with a date. I would go back as surely more silver lurking....nice part of the hobby never run out of first finds...

Now I need to set my sights on a barber quarter!! I think I might have a spot that could give one up but it's like a 3 hour drive from the house :( Going to try and get out there soon and see what happens! Hope you guys all have a great weekend!

Rex

Very nice, and with a date too. I also have not found one yet. Have found a seated quarter, barber, and washingtons, but no SLQ. I remember in the early 60s they were very common in pocket change, but almost all were dateless.

Nice dig ! I broke a 3 year silence on the SLQ last year for myself so I know they are hard to find and always a pleasent surprise. Nice to see you out in the woods as we still have too much snow to get into my favorite wooded spot. good luck to you on the next one.
