Got my first silver coin of the year

Hit Plattsburgh for a while to try and get an old button or two and came up with a bunch of military relics and an army button from the early 1900's. I then decided to hit a spot close to home that was a tourist area by Lake Champlain and Jesuit community. The guy that owns the property is a history professor from Quebec and from our two brief talks, seems to be quite an interesting individual. He hunts, fishes, finds morels and used to metal detect in the French military and for fun. I found out today he detected Roman ruins when he lived in France. He also said he found some old homesites while hunting and seemed eager for us to check them out.
I arrived at the house and he was sleeping so his wife gave me the go ahead. I headed up in the woods and was disappointed. He had found some old engraved offering plates there, I found rusted metal and shotgun shells. I saw him mowing the lawn and talked for a while, then headed across the road to another home site. The ground was worse than other places up here so I tried different GB settings with a buried nickle. I had to go a half turn more with GB on the Shadow at this site but it was worth it. I got a 44 Merc a 43 and a 40 Jefferson. It was sure nice to detect and talk history. I don't know when i'll get together with the Frenchman as I'm taking 15 credits in 5 weeks and start work tomorrow breaking rocks for my teacher for 9 bucks an hour (not bad,for getting to smash things with a hammer), but I hope I do soon, he seems like he has alot of knowlege and enjoys sharing the wealth. I also found out from him that there are arrowheads nearby. Lot of prospects and I'm sure I can steal some time for treasure soon. Have a good one.
