Got my first seated and she is a fat lady as Bryce would call her. I'm still in shock and it was quite a surprise when I finally got her out from under this big old tree root. I dinged her on the edge a couple of times with my digging tool and I'm sure others have done the same thing when trying to find a coin under roots. My "ole" XS was working good and I pounded this place for three days. I hunted this place last year and got some nice old coins out of there, but my first seated was the highlight of the whole trip.:cheers and yes I did clean her up for you as I didn't want to post my first seated all black and ugly looking. I asked this one old local fellow about this place and he gave me some information saying this camp ground was once a big old pasture and an old homestead use to be there going back to the mid to late 1800's. My first question was where the old house use to be and he gave me a general location. I hunted for quite awhile and finally around one of the big old trees still standing is where I got that good silver signal and finally brought her to the light of day once again. My trip was not without a couple of mishaps though. Starting out I didn't have my 5th wheel trailer locked on the hitch and pulled out and my trailer came crashing down on the top of my truck bedrails. Put a small dent on the right side bedrail, but no other damage. Got over to the camp site and got the trailer all hooked up with water and power. I looked at the left front dully on my trailer late Sunday and it looked flat from a distance, but thought it just looked flat sitting in the tall grass. My cousin Linda took a closer look and sure enough I had a flat.:veryangry: Got up early Monday morning and got the spare tire mounted and we headed back home. Went 270 miles one way to this spot and even with all the cost of camping and fuel it was a wonderful trip. The weather was beautiful and well worth the trip to get my first seated coin under my belt. My total take on coins were my seated 1876s half, a 1952 Franklin half, 1943 quarter, rosie's were 49, 50 and 59, mercs were 41, 42, 43, 44 and a 1906s barber dime. Got a 45 war nickel, a 1906 v-nickel I think and a 1914 (my oldest) buffalo nickel. Got one 1907 injun, two Washington state tax tokens and my wheaties were 1917, 20, 25, 27, 28, 35, 36, 37, 41, 44, 46, 2-53's and 2-57's. Oh............and a nice man's 14kt gold ring. Thanks for looking and HH.
