Got My First Ever US Standing Liberty Silver Quarter Today With My GTI 2500

What a day! My first dirt hunt. First silver this year and first silver of that type. I found some south facing slopes that had no snow, and frost free areas, which meant that I could get that relic shovel in 4-5 inches. My 4th signal got a 1949 penny. My 5th signal, showed a silver quarter consistently, in all directions with a coin sized object. It was only down about 1/2 on an inch. I couldn't believe my eyes when I picked it up and recognized it as a US Quarter! What a great hobby!

Check it out below:

Congrats on the silver quarter and other finds..

Very nice find, John, particularly up where you are, in light of the fact that the Standing Liberty quarter is one of the more elusive silver coins for a lot us downhere. I have found a few over the year's, but it has been several year's since my last one. That is a good first, congrats. HH jim tn

Nice find John. It is cool to find "our neighbors" old coins. A dream find for me is pulling up a 5 cent silver. (I have a few but they're only purchased coins...blah...no memory attached to a find.) Nice mess of coins!

Congratulation still looking for my first.
