Got my first Detector Delta 4000

Hello everyone,

I am new to the fourm and to metal detecting I looked around and I decided on the Delta 4000.
It seamed to have a lot of good features and it was in my price range. I have taken it out once in the backyard,
didnt find anything except some junk tin and a old tube of colgate toothpase in the old alunium tube! lol
I do have a couple questions about the detector.

1. is the coil waterproof? like can I run it in some of the shallow creeks that we have here in Kentucky like less than 5" deep

2. Does it matter which way you wind the coil cable around the handle. clockwise or counter clockwise.

I would appreicate any tips and advice you all moght be able to give me, Thanks alot

Yep, coil is submersible - you could detect in a couple feet of water as long as you keep the box/electronic housing dry... Don't know about the cable wrap - could be wrong but I don't think it matters... Have fun with the Delta!

welcome to the forum. wrap the coil wire counter clock wise you want the first wrap on the frontside of the shaft also dont wrap it to tight. find a clean area in your back yard and make a test garden different coins at different depths also check out vidios on utube on the delta 4000 and proper digging methods , get a good digging tool and pinpointer, it takes a while to get the hang of it so have patience and good luck keep us posted on how your doing hh

Welcome to the world of the Delta...great machine and I'm sure you'll enjoy it more and more as you get to know what it's telling you. HH, Woodstock
