Got my compadre...

I shall call her lady chatterly, she sure is noisy with pops and clicks in the trash....I can't even turn her on in the house....is she normal?

I run the one I have a little on the chatty side. It quiets right down when it finds a target and just gives a nice beep on the target when sweeping the coil over a target. I can not test mine in the house either.

Make sure you have a good battery in it. Try hunting another area and see if it is quieter. If it is too chatty, a couple of options are to send it in for a tune or make a small adjustment yourself. The sensitivity adjustment is a small component on the circuit card. If you very carefully turn it clockwise just a little, the sensitivity will be decreased and it should get a little quieter. Turning the sensitivity adjustment counter clockwise on this one, increases the sensitivity. Decreasing the sensitivity too much will decrease how deep you find targets so don't go too far. If adjusting the sensitivity does not help, then a return to the factory is probably in order.

The following URL takes you to a picture of the circuit that JB(MS) has provided:

Just pulled the Compadre out of the spare room not long ago and with fresh battery, It was so noisy. Just constant chatter in air or still on ground. Just totally out of control. Then when I had turned it off, it actually keep chatting for a few seconds and then I got a loud pop (in headphones), then silence. Ended up cleaning the knob pot with Deoxit and that made it so much better. Almost just sent it in to Tesoro. Some dirt/dust, oxidation or something got to the pot. Anyway, back to what I had remember before, a little chatty but sure works good like I remember.
Few days ago I picked up another Compadre and it sounds/works the same. So just for kicks I took my older Compadre and adjusted the sensitivity trimmer clockwise (less sensivity) while at the same time waving a 5c back & forth across the coil. It does get more quiet but go to far and some sensivity drops, and be careful not to damage the trimmer.
So I have one (the new one) factory stock and the other tweaked just a little to reduce the some chatter.

I have also run into wifi noise with mine at a couple of parks.....do all detectors have this issue or is this just a compadre thing?

Have also found gold after only 2 weeks of owning it=== paid off detector twice over - now the wife wants me to go detecting all the time ,:detecting: lol

I'm going to play with it some more, when i turn the knob, it makes it click and pop too.
Sometimes I can turn it on in the house and it is somewhat ok, other times I can't even run it outside the house, but she ran fine at a local tot lot, just some clicks and pops that I suspected was trash.

I do like it but I'm going to have to check this issue out.

Yep, I had the same prob on my Comp with a scratchy pot that was dirty. Many Tesoro diehards insist that the 'new' Tesoro models rumored to be coming out, come with the same knobs/potentiometers. My logic is, with a standard off the shelf potentiometer like the Compadre uses, it will be nearly impossible to keep dirt out. For some reason, I tend to use my detector in alot of dirty places, lol! It's very easy to adjust the internal trimmer if needed, just DON'T TELL TESORO that you did, or bye-bye lifetime warranty.
