Got my Check from Midwest Today...That was Fast!! LONG!

I'm happy to say that I received the settlement check from Midwest today Monday May 19th, after shipping the gold out "late" Saturday May 10th.
Three of the gold pieces were rejected, a Charm that I was almost certain was not gold was rejected, and two "grills" that I was very suspect were either brass or a very low grade gold, turned out to be very low grade gold. All in all it turned out to be what I expected. I was thinking that if all the items were real I might get a check for $600 and if several were not then $450 would have been the price. So, $508 sounds pretty good to me! I also sent in some silver too.

Gettin' a check from Midwest is almost as much fun as going Metal Detecting!

Below is the letter I sent to Midwest along with the shipment,

Midwest Refineries,

Enclosed you will find a bag of scrap gold (jewelry and dental gold) and a bag of scrap silver jewelry.
I heard about your company through a metal detecting forum, www.findmall.com. Had to get the Plug in there for FindMall Many of the people on the forum swear by your company

They accepted most of the dental gold, 1 grill, 1 blob of something gold in color that was very heavy I suspect was a filling, 1 known gold filling, and 1 gold "single tooth grill".

They also sent a note saying they were going to hold the two rejected "grills" for thirty days and they could return it for $6.00 shipping. But I'm more than happy with what I got.

Most of the gold I sent in was stuff that no one would buy anyway, the necklace was broken and had a "mercedes" pendant on it and the rings were class rings I purchased off of ebay last year before the price of gold doubled. Wish I would have bought more now.

Why was the payable amount so low in comparison to the overall weight? Youll have to pardon my ignorance, I havent tried to sell anything yet.

If you take into account the two grills they threw out (these looked more brass than anything) and the pendant 1.6 grams which I was almost certain was not gold and that all the gold was 10k or .417 gold, in other words only 40% real gold. Also, the rings had stones in them "fake stones" of course, which added to the weight of the rings.

So,

3 10k Class rings 20 grams
1 10k Nugget ring 4.3 grams
6 Pieces of Dental Gold 17.7 grams "2 grills thrown out, not gold" probably 8 grams of 10k"
1 10k Necklace 9.8 grams
1 Charm

You done good OUTATIME, now you see how it works and it will be more comfortable next time, just make sure to send separate batches on the karat weights. Glad to see you were pleased.
