Got My 6X8 S.E.F. coil an I must say this is

a very stable and deep coil!! I can ground balance in 95 ground with the sensitivity wide open and it will run with the sens wide open!!Airtest are right up there with the 10 round whites DD maybe an inch difference less in depth but the all metal side on this coil when in relic mode is way deeper and enhanced more on the deepies over the 10 DD. deep targets are real tight sounding and the target I.D locks on and holds better. You can hunt trash like a small coil and hunt deep like a larger coil in one package.I always like the 10X12 sef but it was a specialty coil for open areas and i liked to use the 5X10 DD whites coil for trash hunting. well this is the best of both worlds.

I must say this is a heck of a coil I could see this as being a coil you can use 90% of the time..I commend Kellyco for offering this coil to the american public..I am truly enamored with the performance thus far!!!

Thanks Kellyco!!

It is always great to hear about the new coils & how they compare. It seems that in most posts a reference is made as to the depth of one coil to another, but there is never anything that says what the depth is. For those of us that do not have all the coils it would be nice if there was a reference number.
Most of us know that the soil conditions & other aspects can change the depth, but a simple air test helps.

I have been looking for a coil that will give me more depth than the 6x10 dd just for the open areas that I have hunted out. Simply looking for those deeper coins that may have been plowed under. I don't think I would spend the money for a larger coil that will only give me 1 inch more depth than the 6x10

So my 6x10 dd air test 7" on a quarter with a good signal sensitivity set at 4 & gain at 9 in relic mode
the 4x6 gets about 5 1/2 with the same settings.
I know that I get better in the field but this gives me a reference point.

Hi Keith...been waiting for first reports on this coil as a few others are im sure...please keep us snowed in northerners posted on how this coil does and please post with some depth references when hiiting some good coins...Thanks...Curt

Wonder how it would fare on the M6,M6 doesnt have all metal. Keep us updated on its use. I wonder if I could pull it off here at Christmas, two coils, the 8X6 and 10X12,lol.
Thanks for sharing your info and
Merry Christmas,
John

Thanks for the report Kieth.

I have the 10"DD elliptical and 6" DD shooter coil by Whites. I've run both of these nugget hunting (All Metal) and get a fair bit of falsing when hitting brush, rocks, etc. Just wondering how the 6X8 S.E.F performed in this area? Any falsing on bumps etc. I also get a false signal by pressing lightly on the top of the 10" DD. I've run the MXT next to a GMT and the GMT is much more stable and smooth and no falsing. I would have to crank the sensitivity wide open to get a hit on the same nugget the GMT would find with ease.

The SEF coils look rather solid are they epoxy filled and are they buoyant?

I also have the stock 9.5" concentric and hardly use the thing. To much coverage for the areas I hunt with the sensitivity of the MXT.

Thanks again

I wonder about the M6 too. It would be nice if someone with the acess to differant detectors & coils could air test them and tell the differant depths of each. I know soil type has alot to do with depth but like Bula say's it would be a good start. I have the stock and the 5.3 and they serve me well but I can't help but keep thinking deeeeep with decent seperation.

Hey guys, I got me a 10 x 12 SEF 2 weeks ago tho I haven't given it a good try yet. So I'll hold my opinion till later. Glad your enjoying yours.

That's great to hear. I just picked a 6x8 s.e.f. coil my last trip to the states from Kellyco in Orlando. I have yet to use it since I also picked up a used Excal. I couldn't wait to come home and use both of my new toys, problem is, I can't swing two detectors at the same time. So we got back from a 3 week vacation to the states on Sat. and today was the first time I have had to go out. I used the excal for 3 hours this morning trying to learn the sounds/tones and all that good stuff that comes along with a new detector. I had a great day. 1 mans gold/diamond ring, small silver ring and a lot of change. I stopped by Kirk's jewelers and confirmed the diamonds are real. I have NO doubt that my MXT would have found them also. I just didn't want to take any more chances of getting the Ol reliable MXT wet. I have been using the MXT for the past 3 years over here and it has done me good. I forgot until swinging the Excal today how nice and easy the MXT really is to use.
