Ok Dude, check this out its possible, does it look like the factory coil, they say the 1200 series coils are interchangable but I had a big goaround with Fisher and KellyCo they are advertizing saying there interchangable so I used my 10.5 coil from my 1265X and it worked ok "BUT" I lost pinpointing, was on the phone with both companies and they say they are , finaly got a 1270 tech from Fisher and he told me the old coils are not the newer ones will work on the old machines "BUT" the nolder ones won't on the newer machines. I told him the reason I both the 1270 was the inter change ability from there ads.He said the wiring is different on the older compared to the newer, one coil has 4 wires the other has 5. He said to air test the coil see if the air test depth was ok, 8'coil a should be almost 8" , I was using 10.5 and the depth was fine, and using it was ok still going deep. Now this might not be your problem but its a shot. Does the coil look like a Spider or is it a solid white coil. I don't like the pin point feature on the 1270 that much, alot of times the signal seems to be super loud and large like it was out of tune so they say to raise the coil but most of the time that doesn't help so I would setup the seconday to Iron oa all metals and it works better. maybe that happens if the ground is high mineralized but I have a hard time wit it. maybe someone reading this has a good idea on 1270 pinpointing.
