Got me a Tejon

therover

Well-known member
Well, I could not pass up getting a really nice, used Tejon to add to my arsenal. Can't wait to get it and try it out on some of my favorite hunting spots.

The Tejon likes to chatter talk a bit - but that's the nature of the critter. Spend some time clawing the paws into the ground.

yep the Tejon chatters a bit but not as bad as some make out , and contary to what I read on this forum and others regarding where to run the sensitivity on the Tejon .....I read over an over run it as high as possible without chatter turn it up in red zone then back it off to about 10 where it stops chattering , this is reccommended by some for all conditions trashy or not saying why buy a V8 an drive it at 30mph ! to that I say then why put an accelerator on the V8  I do the contary and run it @ 0 in high trash and 6 in low trash areas ....also the claims about the Silver umax with a 10x12 coil getting as good or even better depth than the Tejon , I doubt it ....if both are fitted with the same coils the Tejon@ 0 sens will smoke the silver@full throttle by inch's , I have both and have tested them with same coils , it also smokes the Eldorado by inchs with ease .....just wanted to vioce my opinion on the Tejon as I read so much putdown on it that I belive is unjust

Everywhere I go I see posts by people claiming the Tejon is a chattery machine. If you turn the sensitivity too high on any mahcine, they too will chatter. Properly tuned, the Tejon is a quiet machine. Because its sensitive, you will hear the occassional "pop" or "snap" of target that is being discriminated out. To take advantage of the Tejons depth you really need to set the Sens just below the "chatter" setting. On my machine that is about "10" on the dial. When I hear those occassional "pops" and "snaps" I know my machine is set right on the edge. When my machine is quiet, I know I must have bumped the sensitivity setting and I could be losing depth. To me its a gauge that I have my machine set at its maximim.

Will look forward to your comparison to the CZ, Rover....

Will do. To really give it a fair shot, I gotta put to bed for a little while the CZ, DFX and Compass Gold Scanner. I need to strictly use and learn this machine. Gonna start with the stock coil, but I really think the 5.3 concentric is in the horizon very soon since a lot of the places I hunt are trashy.

I have a Tejon and I love it. Just learn its sounds and you'll succeed.

You won't be dissapointed,trust me.
The Tejon will go down 6"-7" for the back of an earing LOUD and CLEAR.
If you are a relic type hunter and put this daddy into all metal mode you can expect to go as far as 11" - 13" and pull out a nail like I did.

Have fun and keep diggin !
