Got me a rattler

Headphones that is!

The Garret headphones that came with the AT-Pro just didn't work for me. It's just a personal fit kind of thing and left me deaf to the world around me. I tried some ear buds and a set of Phillips that sort of clipped to your ears. The Phillips were OK but still seemed at best a poor compromise. My hearing ain't exactly the greatest and there's the whole situational awareness thing.

Decided to spring for the one sided DetectorPro Rattlers today and took them on a short park hunt. Finally found my solution, for dry land anyways! I can hear my machine very well with the volume control and can turn them up on those weak, deep signals in pro mode. Plus I could actually hear my wife, well when she wanted me to, and the world around me. Ah, detector bliss..:detecting:

Using the adaptor although it would be pretty straight forward to use the fitting off the Garrett headphones. I'll probably just stay with what I have though.

If you ever want to sell your detector like I just did, it is best to keep everything original. I sold the AT Pro and bought the AT Gold and came out relly well.

Another point is snakes. I disturbed a rattlesnake several weeks ago. I did not see it at first but I did hear his ralttle. If I had phones on, I might not have noticed him in time - Be carefull with Headphones on!

That's the point of the rattler headphone. One ear covered, one ear free and uncovered. My hearing isn't the best so this way I can hear the quieter tones and what's around me. Not all snakes are legless!

Good point about the Rattlers! Hiking in the Gila, Tigger & I found an old miner's camp and shaft on a mountain side. Went back there several times, and encountered a 4' - 5' rattler 3 times on that mountain. Almost stepped on the critter once, fortunately, he gave me a warning rattle. I don't mind them, but it took a lot of coaxing to get Tigger's curiosity to abate, We'll take the AT Pro up there to check their tailings, but I think we'll wait until the snakes take a winter's nap!

I use the Killer B "Stinger" head phones same as the rattlers. I have been using them for a year now an love them. Good choice
