Got me a rather LARGE class ring.......

Gulf Huntress

New member
Hi everyone, just wanted to share a story with you. I went on vacation to Arkansas to visit my beautiful grandbabies, while there, I got some good info on where to hunt. Anyways, hit 4-5 different locations, but the one that counts the most was the first one. I wasn't there 20 mins when this hog jumped into my scoop. I figured it was stainless or silver as that is the case with alot of these rings. I hunted from 5pm to 8pm, then called it a night. Once I got back to my son's house, he was looking at and and read the inscription, and 10K Joston, well now, I was like give that here, let me see, and sure enough, I got gold. My son found the guy in the phone book and gave him a call that very night. The guy also said he paid $500 for that ring. I had suggested to meet with him, as he was only an hour or so away, but he said no, just mail it to me and I will send you some money. I still have the ring in my hand, as this was not an option at the time, besides that, GH wanted to weigh it on the scale. It weighed in at 17.4 grams, at the time it was right at $210 and some change. I sent the guy a letter today, asked for a MO or cashier's check for the return and insurance, we will see if he really wants it back. I will keep you posted on the outcome. Enjoy!!!!![attachment 94677 classring.JPG]

Nice find.It also is a good turn that you are making an effort to return it to him.
Send it COLLECT.I've done that before.
Waterbug

Thats a beauty huntress! Well done. HH regards Nugget.

I can certainly understand why you don't want to return it on your dime. The one that I sent back from York PA high school class of 1960 to his widow, didn't even send me a thank you and it cost me 5.60 cents to ship. I was a bit upset. But she got it back and I just left it at that.

Nice ring. You must have been doing the happy dance!!

If he wants the ring back or not...........you still come out on top.

WOW.... from the sound of your conversation, the fellow didn't sound very excited or grateful about you finding the thing.,... The same thing happend to me a few years ago.....I found a beautiful H.S. ring ,,( worth about $430) ,, went through the trouble of finding the owner,,,contacting them....and then sending the ring,in the mail...,,(at my own expense) .... AND NOT EVEN A THANKYOU !!!!..( either over the phone or a return note ).....sometimes these kind of people make you want to re-think "being nice" ..........Gene:shrug:

Let the boy belly up to the bar if he wants undo his mistake of swimming in the water with his class ring on. You went to the effort to find the ring, find the previous owner and contact him. Some people are just ungrateful. If he doesn't want to send the MO for the postage and insurance then forget it, it's yours now and your option to return it.

Nice Fat Ticket,

BDA:cool:

As Thats the most prob. persons that Paid for the ring in the first place..lol great find mrs gh
I would have gladly drove an hour to get my class ring back even at the price of gas now.
CONGRATS ON THE RING

I had mixed emotions about that one, I confess. I like being a good samaritan and all, but we are talking about $200 bucks there. I'm a nice guy to a point......GOLD IS GOLD! I sure would of liked to see if the guy would pay scrap for it, LOL! I have recovered 3 gold class rings and they are included in the bar mix. What can I say, I'm a pirate? Huntress can do as she wills, but she is kinder hearted, than this old salt, LOL! Truely a trophy there, my love!

I believe all Josten's school rings have a one time replacement warranty if lost within 4 years of purchase.

All three of your major class ring manufacturers have a replacement warranty for 4 years and 10 years for an extra fee. You still have to pay a deductible to get the replacement, but very cheap compared to the original cost.

My son had a friend who had one replaced for 100.00 bucks, it was 10K back in early 2001. There is a possibility that you are returning a ring that has been replaced already.

I have one that the kid already had replaced and he had sold the replacement for more than he paid for it ,to do some work on his car. I got that info. from a friend that worked at the school that knew the kid. I figure if I keep it for another few years he may grow up enough to appreciate it. Time will tell. Over the years I have returned and found rings for people so I am a semi Pirate.Arrrrrr HH

The gal's just too good!

With no more interest than the boy had, I think I would use it for "trading material" to GF if I was her!!!!
