Got Me a CZ-6a QuickSilver

I have been using a White's Classic III untill my brother in law stopped in and said he is quitting detecting. He is too busy doing the geocaching thing. So he sold me his CZ-6a with the headphones for $200.00 The detector is in great shape, but I had to clean it up some. I got a pretty good deal didn't I. The only thing I can't seem to clean is the coil because it has a coil cover on it and I can't get it off, I am afraid to pull too hard on it & probably shouldn't try to pry it off. Any suggestions on how to removew it? Seems to be a good machine, I went up to our small park that I have been over tons of time with my White's Classic III,a Garrett Ace 250 & a White's Prizm II and got almost $2.00 in change. The best nickel finder I have seen yet. But it is heavy compared to the other detectors I have had. Going to take me alittle time to learn the CZ-6a but I think it will be worth it. I kind of like the analog meter - I always seem to like the older things when it comes to electronics. First machine I have had that has a manual ground balance - I can't get no noise how ever I do the ground balancing thing. Maybe no minerization up here in upstate New York. Thanks & this is a great forum! Steve.

Good deal you're going to like the Fisher.Try and run hot water on the coil and pry a little at a time on the cover. The CZ is one of the best detectors for silver dimes.

Many feel including myself that the CZ6A is the best of the lot of CZ's and I have used every model CZ ever made...CZ coils fit very tight but accumulate dirt..Here is what I do...Take coil off CZ and lay on a blanket folded several times or perhaps a pillow to absorb impact..Small hammer and a wooden dowel and lightly tap the edges and eventually will loosen up to come off..After you get it off either buy a new fresh coil cover or use the old one and put a clear latex epoxy adhesive thats used in bathrooms and is water tight all around the openings and never have to worry about again. As far as weight goes keep a short lower rod and arm fully extended when you swing and it will feel lighter..Surely a user friendly depth demon...
