got lucky

Congratulations and welcome to the CTX family......:clapping:

I got mine from Richard at Backwoods Detectors, but I suggest making a few calls around, their prices are not always the bottom line, don't be afraid to make an offer for less. I do recommend the Standard package and add the waterproof headphones, they might come in handy even if you are not a water hunter.

I just wish we would get some rain so I can go out and use mine.......

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on the winnings and the new CTX 3030 :clapping:

Way to go Andrew! BIG congrats to you! HH with your new machine when you get it, Nancy

It sounds like you hit a Royal Flush on a dollar machine. Way to go. Did you know that if you take money, that is won on a riverboat, back to the riverboat, the boat can sense it and will suck it all back. So you must spend, invest, save all that money before going back there. Anyway it is good to hear of your success and lookout L.B. Park.

I have heard stories from Dennis, Ron, Jeff, and ol' Ken, bragging about their winnings in the past, And I enjoy playing as well. I wonder if it the gambler in us that brings out our interest in metal detecting......???

I always compare the sounds made by the detector to a casino when describing that sweet sound of silver and the jackpot is a good target found in the ground.

And here is the photo of the winning combo. Got the CTX ordered. Ordered the wireless version and a propointer for a bit under the price of the wired version.

I LOVE IT~~~~~~~~TOO COOL!!!!!!! We're happy for you! Take care, Nancy

WORK??? I hate those four letter words. Looks like you better call in sick for a few days before it dries up too much. :detecting::thumbup::devil: HH, Nancy

I did take it to the old post office in town for an hour today. I dug a LOT of old nails trying to figure out the trace target function. I didnt find anything old a ive been over this place more times than i can remember but the few clad coins i did find had multiple nailsin each plug. I like the way the detector feels now i just gotta figure it out.

Good idea! Wait till it cools down. Then you can be sick. :stretcher: I won't tell.

The more you use the machine, the more you'll like it. I know Larry sure likes his.

HH, Nancy

Put it in Ferrous-Coin mode and be sure to have Target trace and Target Trace pinpoint on and you will see multiple targets on the screen, the nails will be in the lower right hand corner and the good targets along line 12. When you push detect again, you will go to pattern two which is all metal and you can see/hear the iron better. As always, move 90 degrees and recheck any suspected iron and you will most often lose the signal or at least it will not sound as good. Those are almost ALWAYS deep iron with the CTX.

Another give-a-way is the good targets will give you a red dot filling in the cursor while a trash target will show "splatter" or as Randy calls it, a meteor shower. (lots of little dots, mostly yellow)

You will have lots of fun with that detector.........

I was hunting in ferrous-coin with a blank screen to try and get the feel. I noticed the meteor shower quite a few times. I sure miss my x-1 probe though. As good as this detector is at finding stuff in the iron you are likely to pull 3 or more iron pieces out before you ever find your good target with the propointer.
