What the hell did I get myself into. Tried it in the yard at factory settings and it sounded like I had my head inside a computor on steroids. Gonna read the manual again and try it later.

I hear you, way to much chatter. I put a quarter about three inches down and it didn't sound off that good to me. Am I doing something wrong fellas? I used factory presets. I thought it would really sing out on good coins.

BIG difference if you didnt. Makes ALL the difference. I can just barely get a silver quarter 12" in the ground. LOTS deeper than 3 huh?? :)

Read the manual (again) and don't give up, it'll all come together soon, if you spend the time to get to know it.

but the manual leaves a lot to be desired. While it mentions all the features, there is NO in depth explamation of most of them. for instance, the differnt processes. While it touches lightly on all of them, it doesnt really explain to my satisfaction exactly what the differences in the programming are. (like between De and PF for instance) it tells you that De is the best overall mode, and that PF is for plowed fields, but not WHY!!! I kinda like to know exactly WHY something is different, and fisher kinda missed the boat in the manual in my opinion........

I've been reading posts on the F-75 since before it came out. Therefore I've probably forgotten more than I remember. The first time I tried the machine in the back yard I just used fast grab to balance the machine. Got out for about two hours a little later and had much better performance when I manually ground balanced it. Seemed to make it a lot quieter. It's still a much busier machine than I'm used to. My main concern is that with the machine operating on the quiet side with the sens. at 75, disc. at 10, in the de mode, it didn't seem to have the depth that my cz-70 had. If I have to turn it up to where the thing is going crazy to get good depth I don't think I'm going to like it. Hopefully it's just a matter of finding the right combination of settings. It sure is a nice machine to swing though, nice and light. Also like the pinpointing on it. Anyhow thats just the first day of many to come. I've read of a few people not liking it at first and now they won't get rid of it.

Yes I read the manual, Tinfoil, and I must admit for a near 1000 dollar machine I was disappointed in the manual. The manual was OK just not as in depth as I expected, It was written as if you had been using Fisher detectors all your life. Not so much for those of us that are new to the line. And yes I did read all these posts, that is why I decided to purchase this detector. I did research before I purchased this unit. While it was my first time out I expected a bit of as learning curve. It may be due the fact that this is the first Fisher detector I have ever owned, perhaps they perform a bit differently, and sound off differently than the other brands I have used. It just seems that if you say the least thing that could be regarded as negative about this machine...people get aggravated. I am just trying to learn the machine I bought tinfoil...But your tone seemed defensive.

Put 3 or 4 numbers Positive to the G/B. Just like when you G/B the 70 make it a little more pos. G/B when you lower coil to ground. Should make machine run a little quiter. Later Jerry AKA Tinfoil

You can lower the sensitivty after ground balancing but you should always GB at the sens you are going to use. I found that out the hard way Sunday. Wasn't finding squat at an old site until I rebalanced after I had raised it up.

I think I raised it to 3 numbers. Machine is so sensitive I just dropped the Sen. down. Anyway it worked. I haven't posted much on the machine as I want to get everything right before I say anything negative or positive about what I have found to work on this machine. You know me Tom. :D: :D:. Right now I have been working this bad black sand salt water beach with the ferrous reading maxed out and I have dug them at 8 and 9"s so far. My Fishers won't even G/B here. So far I am impressed. Anyway Back to lurking. Later Jerry AKA Tinfoil

Lots of folks are thrown for a loop the first day due to it's pure power. Just try to keep your chin up.....try to forget everything you know about your CZ-70 and start 100% fresh. When I get a new unit I try to take it as a challenge & try to have fun with it. Fun experiencing new technology.
I have a freind who got one, & I gave him some settings, & after one day he said "don't like it, got to go..". He was accustomed to another brand and disliked the sounds & such. But, instead of listing it on E-Bay he tried it a couple more times and started to see it's potential. Now I have a feeling it may become his #1 detector. I keep telling folks that depth will come. Many people want to see how deep it is right away, and really crank up the sensitivity. This is where the chatter comes from. I would reccomend getting comfortable with the detector first on say 50-60 sensitivity, DE process. Go dig some clad at a ballfield & get comfortable with it. Once you learn the sites & sounds you can try hotter setting and the JE process from some real depth......

I don't have a first impression yet as I won't have my F-75 till next week. I started detecting back in the early 60's with a D-tex and have gone through many detectors over the years. Presently I an using Minelab EX-2's and a DFX once in a while although mostly EX-2 because of the superior depth and simplicity (after you learn it) Also because I have coils from the 5 inch through to the WOT. I am able hunt 20-40 hours a week and I will give the F-75 a good work out for at least a month before I comment + or - . I don't have a dog in this hunt so I will not be leaning one way or the other-just my observations after a couple of hundred hours. .02 HH
