Got permission on an empty lot that has hosted a church that got turned into a dance hall then later a bar. The other side of the lot had a carousel on it. None of this stuff existed after about 1975.

I put 3hrs in on it yesterday with dreams of numerous silver roosies and mercs dancing in my head. Ran in salt mode as this isn't really old enough for enhanced. After 3 hrs, all I had was 1 wheat and some clad besides some junk. I stopped digging nickel signals as the beavertails were killing me on this. If I'd dug PT hits looking for gold, I'd never have gotten off my knees. There were parts of this lot that was iron infested while other parts had no iron. I will spend some more time on it but I'm going to use my 5 incher on it. I heard so much junk that even I turned the discrimination up to only accept hi-coin.

I normally spend my time around old homesites so this beast is a new one for me.

Dave,

That sounds like the lot I've told you about that's a few blocks away from my house. It's been host to fireman carnivals, church functions, neighborhood pickup football game... you name it. It's also across from where an 1890's school was up until the early 1980's. I've said since I've started hunting the lot that it should be a proving ground for detector manufacturs. It has a little of everything thrown in. With a 10 inch coil it sounds like a machine gun when your sweeping... :) The first 3-4 times I went there I only found wheaties. I adjusted my approach some and started finding IH, Mercs and barber coins. Good luck!
