The plain button on the back says "Lewis & Tomes Standard colour treble gilt" Googled and it is a company from 1820-1832

Hi...The second button in the photos w/the eagle on it is called a great seal button. The U.S. Military began using the Great Seal buttons in the mid 1880s and have continued to use them even through today.
 
Hi..As you describe the button, the face is crimped over the back w/the shank. This is the common manufacture for a Great Seal Button. Hope this helps.
 
TigerRifle accurately ID'd it as a Great Seal button. That's one of my favorite buttons...so much going on there...really nice looking design. I've dug 4 or 5 of them.
