Went out for a quick Tuesday hunt with my buddy Up Wind at 1930's park that I haven't had any luck at. Up Wind had pulled almost 13 pieces of silver outta there on different occasions. I told my self to stay calm and dig anything that sounded remotely like a coin. I got a signal that was bouncing from 12-42, 1-42 thought it might be a wheat and that was better than nothing so I dug it. From about 2 inches down popped the thinnest piece of silver I have ever seen. I am still kinda new at this (Less than a year in) so I called Up Wind over to check it out. At first he thought it was a silver 3 cent and that being on or very near the top of my hit list I yelled for joy. He said "No man this can't be a 3 cent it is too big and it is bigger than a dime". He pulled out a dime and checked it and indeed it was a bit bigger. He took the coin and gave it a closer look "No waaay no effn way, you see that the shield and you can just make out the eagle this is a Capped Bust, you just found a Bust dime" he said. I never in a million years thought I would find a Bust dime, I haven't even found a Barber Quarter or Seated for that matter, But there it was a Bust dime, and at that moment I felt like the the luckiest guy on the planet.
The front is so worn you can't get a date let alone any detail but the back you can see the shield and eagle of a Capped Bust Dime (1809-1837).
