I found this piece this morning along with an 1852 large cent nearby.
There was a farm on this site many years ago.
It looks like a handle of some sort and has "YOUNGER AND SONS PHILI" stamped on it.

It is from the young and son surveying company. Type in surveying chain on google.
 
That is the handle from a surveing instument called a gunter chain.
Are you sure its younger and not just young and sons?
