Got Another Walker This One Is Melted

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
This is from my last few hunts. I went back around a yard that I have found a bunch of Civil War bullets and lucked up on a few more. One was pulled by a worm screw but it took 3 attempts to get it so I thought that was pretty cool. I hit an old school spot on the way back home from a trip my wife and I took. Found a few wheaties and got 5 silver dimes. I don't think it's been detect much and there was a lot more ground that I didn't get to cover. I hit another old school spot with my little girl but didn't get much time to look around because the rain moved in. I got a good signal that I thought might be a silver quarter but when I pulled it out it looked like it was a token. I was really surprised that it turned out to be a really rough Walker. It's bubbled up and warped from being in a fire. I really had to do some big cleaning to get it looking better. I did read that one of the old schools had burned so this old half may have been in there. Right before leaving because of the rain we dug a neat sterling Indian chief ring. I will have to get back around that spot. HH David

Congrats on the pulled 3 ringer. They are always a bit more special when they have a soldier's signature on them. Must be the week for mutilated halves. Mine lost a war with a mower and yours melted in a fire. lol Really like that ring and the Model T valve stem caps are always nice to find while hunting an older site. Great finds Soop! Thanks for posting them.

those are some great finds, congrat's.

would that pulled bullet be worth more then just a dropped bullet?

Great finds always a thrill to pull big silver! those three ringers are not bad either.

Yeah I saw that bend in your Franklin. Crazy what happens to coins. I find a lot of shot wheaties, never have found a shot silver.

I'm not sure on a value for these. It is cool to think a soldier pulled it to reload.

Great Finds! I forgot what it feels like to dig a walker.

Thanks FPD. Yeah big silver can elude me for a year and then I might dig two back to back. Hope you dig one soon!

I've found one shot Indian and a few wheaties. Haven't found a shot silver either.

Just got around to seeing that Walker...that thing is FUGLY man! As fugly as it is...they're the most beautiful coin the US ever minted! Congrats on a fugly beauty!

From the looks of the Walker I'd say you were running your settings just a little to HOT

Great finds for sure.

Mark

Congrats on another bunch of killer finds Dave !
A while back I dug a Walking Half that was damaged by fire - the house burned down over 20 years ago - guess we can't complain though - any Walker's a good Walker !
