Got another silver tonight...

Been practicing at a local park trying to listen for deepies... Dug about 1/2 dozen in one particular area that were very deep but the odd thing is that, they were all memorials; 60's / 70's. As I started working toward the area I picked up the 2 Merc's a while ago, I hit a spot where I picked up 2 deep wheaties. I worked that area, gridding it out real slow and came upon a '44 Washington. That's silver #13 so far this year... not bad considering I didn't think there was any silver left around here :) I've got Friday off, so I'm hoping to hit that other park where I found my first 2 Mercs...

You are doing great! Learning that explorer well! :)

Well, I know this particular area has been hunted a lot. Not much in the way of clad left around although I still pick up some from time to time (mostly dimes). There are many shallow pennies, but I pass those up. The Merc's and Rosies I've hit have been deep and I think the ExpII must be better at picking them up. I've been using the Platypus which is an 8.5 X 11" elliptical and I think it works pretty well in the trashy areas...gets good separation.

Lately, I've been experimenting with various settings after I come upon an "iffy" target to see how it affects the signal. Starting tonight, I'm going to take the X-12 (12.5")with me too and switch coils to see what the difference is. I'll do the same with the stock of Friday. After following Mike around on the Forum Hunt, I realized I still had much to learn even though I thought I had finally gotten this thing down :) So, I'm back to the drawing board. All in all, I think this machine is an awesome machine that, even with my limited ability, is finding stuff other machines have missed.

...you're becoming the silver king!! There is a house in an older, and dangerous part of town, that I will be cleaning the carpets in soon and I hope the owner will give me permission to hunt the yard. There just has to be some old silver laying around and possibly some CW stuff.

You're off to an awesome start this year and I hope you find a lot more.
