Been a busy day....Had brunch with my Wifey, then loaded up the AT Pro and headed out coin shooting. I hit 3 different locations, and was rewarded with lots of coins, including those one and two dollar coins. My biggest surprise was finding an early Colonial Token.

Here's the colonial token cleaned up a bit. From the literature I have at home, it's a Lower Canadian Colonial Token, dating to the early 1800's, which is a significant find for Edmonton. I will have to further research it to find out exactly what I got.

Below is a tiny gold ring which I got at a water hunt yesterday.....

Wow, you did good! I'd like to hear what you find out about that Colonial coin...that's very interesting! Congrats on a good day!
Oh yeah, was/is it cold there today? Snow?

I have never seen a coin such as yours John. And how it got there is as rare as a lightning strike I'd say. My best guess is that it came in by a fur trader. I look forward to more info on the piece, as it is quite intriguing.

Nice hunt john. Those old curio coins are fun to recover. I dug one of your Upper Bank Of Canada coins, 1849, up in Mn several years ago. Good job on the gold ring, too. HH jim tn

A "toke" of goodness there John, congrats on the gold as well!! Hmm, don't they polish petrified wood and cut them into cabochons?? That'd be a nice piece for a pendant.

They polish it in a rock tumbler. I have made some in the past. I much prefer putting several coats of mineral oil on that type of rock.

I found a different one about 12 years ago. They ripped up a street (road) in Edmonton and it was underneath the gravel.

Nice oldie token find.:clapping:

If it is possible to put up a picture of this coin also, it would be greatly appreciated. I find these relics to be quite fascinating.

Congrats on the Cologne and the gold! Roundness is always interesting :) HH!
