hello all, olddigger and i hit a new spot - a farm of several hundred acres today and found a bunch of stuff! there was definetly a good sized cavalry skirmish there during the civil war. the old homeplace is from the late 1700's, so we knew there had to be something good there. family legend says the great house was a hospital after the battle. we found 17 bullets together, both fired and dropped. i found the yankee coat button late in the day, then the 1853 half dime by the road. i hung around a while and met the owner of the property late in the day as well, i offered him whatever he wanted, but he refused it all. he told me he greatly appreciated us showing our finds to him, as previous hunters there had never shown him anything they had found! what?!

i also found a small flatbutton there as well, as well as the normal whatzits. my sister had shown interest in detecting for a while now, so i gave her my old bh pioneer 202. she rents a house from the property owner, and had hooked us up. she immediatley found a nice 1930 mercury dime in her yard! man, i thought. she's whooping me already! wow, what a great day we had. 70 degrees! the union button looks grody, i know, but it's the best i could do with it. the owner was real nice and told us to come back anytime. we still have several hundred acres to go, and i can guarantee it's gonna be sweeeeet! boss, can i have the day off... there's still good stuff out there. thanks, and hh!

SWEET DAY!!!! You had a good time out, I'd say. What a nice day. I went out too and it was beautiful out. Gonna post my day's finds soon. You should have never let your sister get her hands on a machine. Now she will have to legally beat on her brother:rofl: Good luck with that one.

Wow! great half dime, that is one of the coins that I truly want to find. As far as the siste, just but some copper flakes under her coil cover.Good luck with the rest of the farm hunt.
