Got a T2 today

Bo

New member
I got a new T2 today and played with it for about an hour. I went over an area that I had been over many times before with the other detector and picked up a few coins. I like what I see with the detector so far and think and with a little time to become more familiar with it will be very pleased. A friend and I plan to go detecting on Saturday and I will let you know how things go.

You just purchased an outstanding detector. Once you get familiar with it you are going to be delighted with the performance. Go through the past posts in this forum and you will find a wealth of great advice and suggestions regarding settings and use in a variety of locales. I found the posts very valuable when I got my T2 about a year ago and relied on a number of the suggestions until I got used to the detector and started trying setting out on my own. I hunt in Northern Virginia. From my experiences when I get out in a new area I initially set in the discrimination mode the Sens at 80, the Disc at 41 and the tones I leave at 1. I then go to the all metal mode and set Sens at 80, Hum I adjust until the feedback is gone or almost gone---usually in my areas this is at -1 or -2---I then go back to the discrimination mode and ground balance. I then start searching and adjust the settings if necessary. More often than not I leave the settings as is and they work great. Again, it depends on your detecting area, these settings work for me in Northern Virginia.

Good luck and have fun, the T2 is superb, an excellent choice.

Thanks for the info. I went out for a while today after work and shortly found a 1918 dime. That got my heart pounding and found a few more modern coins. I agree with you that this is a great detector and I feel like the more I use it the more I will like it. A buddy of mine got his T2 today and he and I are going out tomorrow and try our luck. We are in northeast NC. I'm looking forward to the farm fields becoming available after the crops are up. I had some good luck with them last year with my old detector (Fisher F4) and can't wait to try this one out.

Thanks again.

You are going to love those fields. I have a few I visit every Fall, both here in Northern VA and in Pennsylvania, friends own them and welcome me back year after year. The T2 always manages to find some silver, it is a super machine. Have fun!

The t2 is definitely a step up from the f4, but the f4 was a great detector for me to learn with. I bought the f4 right after Christmas and have found 1000+ coins along with the other nice things this year. I know I missed things with it so I looking forward to going back over those area with the t2 and picking up more good stuff. thanks for the reply.
