Got a Sunray FZ-12 coil for the my CZ70 on the way

I know Dankowski has stated that the depth difference between the Fisher 10.5" and the Sunray FZ-12 coil on the CZ is marginal, but I've read many other CZ user posts stating that the Sunray coil added a couple of inches of depth over the Fisher large coil, along with better pinpointing characteristics. The weight is apparently equal (that's impressive for such a larger coil, as I understand it the Sunray is actually a 12.5" diameter coil).

I can't wait to test the Sunray coil out. Come on rain, that'll help too

I never swung the 10.5 but some say the FZ felt better . I could hit a dime a about 14in in air test with sen at 6 Good luck

Thanks gmanlight. I found Bill Ladds field test on the Sunray FZ-12, and not only did he gain depth, but targets that were iffy, or non-detectable on the Fisher 10.5" coil were picked up and came in more pronounced and accurate on the Sunray FZ-12. Even if it doesn't gain depth, that alone, along with better ground coverage is well worth the price IMHO. I do however, hope that it will give me an additional couple of inches of depth to get to those hidden deepies

Congrats on snagging one!

I love that coil at the beach.

Most of the places I hit in the dirt are a little too trashy for that coil so I mostly go smaller. But shortly after getting my FZ-12, I did get my first silver with it, a Roosevelt dime near the center of a soccer practice field at I think about 4 to 5 inches down. Not very deep but it was getting dark and I was walking fast towards the car and heard that sweet smooth sounding high tone that had to be dug.

Looking forward to hearing how you like the coil.

Where did you find a FZ-12 coil and do they have another?
Thanks, Steve

I posted a WTB request on another forum, and got REAL lucky as I picked one up the next day, and for about $50 less then the last one I saw recently go for here

I took the FZ-12 out yesterday, only for a few hours to test it at an old park. It seems to be like iron a bit more then the Fisher 10.5" coil, but aside from that it did OK. I'm going to take it to a spot that I did real well at a few weeks ago, and run it over the same area I used the 10.5" coil and see if I missed anything. Also was thinking about taking it in the water at a fresh water lake swimming hole I used my Sovereign at last summer. Didn't do too bad, got a 14K ring, big 14K earring, and two sterling rings, but I bet there's more there.

I might need to hip-mount when using this bad boy, my right arm is starting to look like a Pop-Eye arm, people might wonder about that :hot:
