Got A Stealth Sunspot Scoop Today

Hi Everyone, Just thought I would share. I went to my local metal detector shop in Minneapolis today and saw the stealth sunspot scoop (the bigger one) standing against the wall. I was sold INSTANTLY. The owner of the shop even took a 45% trade on my 709 scoop that I got from Kellyco a year ago, I couldn't be happier. I obviously haven't tried it yet, but I can say with certainty that this scoop will be the best I will ver try. It looks like it will be absolutely incredible. I will let you know how it does for me, but like I said, I already know I will never need/want another scoop. Maybe a different/new handle to replace the wood one, but the actual scoop is a true work of art and absolutely awesome. Happy hunting and thanks for reading. -Marc

sounds cool i will have to look one up

Very good scoop. I got one for these red clay and rock lake bottoms in east TN. Some swimming areas have sand but out in the water the bottom is tough to recover a target from but not with the Sun-Spot scoop. I like the wood handle myself ( it floats). I did spray bed liner on the foot pad. You will like that scoop. HH :minelab:

I've had my eye on one for some time now. After you have used it a bit please give us a comparison to the other makes of scoop you have tried. What you like about it that makes it better is what I want to know.

Thanks

iv had 3 of them and while they are built like a tank, they are very heavy..i just wish the handle was on an angel like my Reily's scoops.

They are saying that their 08 model weighs 5.5 lbs. including the handle. So heavy I guess is a relative term. Weight aside do you think the Stealth outperforms other designs? If so in what way?

Thanks

your gonna love that scoop, got my a year ago..its bullet proof!

Ive tried several of the well known scoops and like the sunspot one the best.

So I finally got to try the scoop and WOW!!!! This thing is great. The sand washes out of it so much faster than my 709 scoop. I really like the "kick-plate" at the back of it. It gives great control and makes pushing the scoop down much easier. There are so many holes on this scoop that sand washes out with minimal effort. One problem, however, is that the scoop takes such big bites that it is really heavy to lift out of the water. This became very difficult after a few hours of hunting, well earlier actually. I will mod the handle to have a grab handle at the bottom of the handle so that I can pick it up easier. I've seen someone else did this to theirs and now that I tried mine I really see why. I have nothing but good things to say about this scoop and was absolutely right in my initial statement that I am sure I will never need to buy another one, this is as good as it gets. Im sure someone out there will disagree, but for me its perfect. I hope this helped someone else out there looking for a new scoop. If I haven't made it clear enough, I'll drive it home saying this is the best scoop out there, in my opinion. I also want to say, I am not getting anything for saying this, I am just extremely impressed these days when someone makes something that actually works and is actually worth the money. I've spent way too much money on stuff that ends up being trash, but this scoop is everything and more than I expected.

Thanks Aaron, I will have to order one of these, didn't know Sunspot offered them. Saves me the time of having to make something that works. Thank you and HH. -Marc

I am going to get the Sunspot stealth this week .... Glad to hear all the good reports on it..... But they have 2 sizes i am not going to get the 8 inch i went for the 6.5 inch ..... When you get up in years you have to get the one that has less weight to it......................

Ive got the smaller one myself, still has some weight to it. Most times I take out a handheld scoop and use the long handled one for in water hunting.

Yes i use the hand held one in dry sand or wet sand........... I only use the long handled one in the water.

but $300 for a scoop with travel handle?? WOW, that's expensive!!

I bought mine from Metal Detectors of Mpls. as well. It's a travel model which allows me to break it down for easy transportation. Have only been able to use it once so far in Miami, but hoping to go out tomorrow and try it out. That is one great scoop!

Great scoop.I have two with the wooden handle.Ive had mine for about five years never had any problems and i use it "EVERY DAY" they are awesome
