I'M impressed with depth and seem to more easily hit deeper targets that i couldn't hit very well at difficult sites with iron and hotrocks and other crappy ground. I have a question about the Digisearch Meter. According to the manual your supposed to adjust a quarter to hit on 170 but i checked the Sov Mods page and it gives the 180 meter readings ,so i adjusted the Meter to read a 180 quarter and the Nickel hits at 145 ,146. So can i set the DigiSearch Meter to 180 Quarter ? Would appreciate any input because i'm not familiar with this setup. Thanks . HH Bill

Hey Bill.......

Most set up the calibration to 180.
This keeps us with the same reference numbers.

You could calibrate to any number that the meter will adjust to if you wanted..........
It's only for reference anyway, and has no effect on the Sov's performance.

Other than the meter question i'm finding the sovereign very easy to understand and really enjoy reading the posts on this excellent forum. Thanks so much. HH Bill

Good to hear you are getting over the biggest learning curve and that is using it and having some confidence in it.
Now on the meter question I feel it was a misprint or didn't want to copy the Sun Ray meter is why it says 170 instead of 180. We all know the 180 numbers so we like to stay with them/
Now you calibrate it for 180 on a quarter or even a dime you will find the new zinc pennies and the IH will read 176-177 and if you are using freq 2 most nickles will read 144-145, but if you use freq 1 then the nickles will read higher like 146-148 but all other coins will read the same.
The more you get to use it the more you will learn and the better it gets, soon it will all come natural.

I was confused as why they put the quarter at 170 when the 180 was there. I noticed that questions get answered very quickly on this forum and when i begin to use the GT more often i'll probably be asking for my share of them. Thanks again Rick and Art.
