I have actually found a fair number of rings in the woods. I found many old costume rings from the turn of the century. Before there was TV & radio, a lot of leisure time was spent picnicing in the woods around here. But, I can recall at least 3 nice big honker gold rings with stones that I got too, that were lost in the past 20 years or so. Why? I haven't the foggiest.....
