Got a question for those that have hunted with both the 1500 and the 2500.

Does hunting with sizing and depth reading showing all the time on the 2500, make much of a difference to your hunt as opposed to having to hit the pinpoint button to get that information from the 1500?

Without much experience I will comment, I think under the imaging menu is where you can enable image "upon pinpoint"or "auto (all targets)". I like to use it on pinpoint only.

O.K. , I did say not much experience; I checked Garrets website and that function was not available on the 1500, woops sorry. Anyway I still only use the Image function when PP because unless you are directly over your target will you get accurate info. I wonder if leaving it on all the time can help in ways I have not figured, I hope this will be commented on.

It does save some time, but the biggest difference is that true all metal mode which gives even greater depth and still gives a probability of the target.

leaving it on isn't the best thing to do. I found the imaging will be all over the place with the move of the coil. But if you hit a target and slow down to a realy slow swing it may image better. I use mine in pinpoint only. It seems to work best for me that way.

I'm kind of hooked at at least having a depth reading available while in discriminate mode on the Ace and would miss that on another detector. The extra 200 grams would have an impact as well. I've swung an Explorer that weighs 50 grams more than the 1500 (any more than 3 hours though is too much) but find that for all it's discrimination, it can't tell the difference at all between a screw cap and a coin, so it's going. I'm wondering if the expense of another detector is worth it though. Out of all that I've seen,my little X-Terra does alright at this, followed by the Ace and suspect the the GTI would be the only other detector on the market, that may fair better.
